No need to balance because all of the cells see the same voltage from the charger when they're parallel. In series (7.4v) you need to balance charge older cells and cells that aren't matched well from the factory.

No animosity here dude. I'm actually looking forward to racing the pan cars again. Apparently there are a lot of people misreading things here.
Issues here are that no one I know wants to use anything else but lipos. And I'm sure someone will missread that as well... lol

Yup, I'm dying to run a 3.7 LiPO in my 1:12. It would help my local club get racers back. One LiPO, One Motor and minimal parts breakage would be cheap fun.

I personally think that it would be awesome to take some tech out of it all and get back to solid and close competition.... instead of the multiple pack and brush work everyone had to do just to play . It was great having so many pl running the same classes to instead of 5 guys running every other different car.

John-

I am sure you have not raced 1/12th in a long time but almost everyone is racing brushless. With regard to multi-packs I would imagine that three packs (nimh)would last half a season being raced twice in a day two times a week. In fact it would not do you much good if you had more than that since the principle of "using your cells or loss your cells would apply".

Also are you not using a teebar car? You will want saddles packs and I believe this thread is just for a brick format which means pivot ball car.

If your dead set on a lipo pack go online and search for fullymax. I believe Surflite carries these cells in single cell formation. Order three 1300 25 c cells and assemble your own pack for less than $45. Make sure the voltage on all three cells are the same then combine all positives together and then all negs. Build a little lexan case around the pack and tada...you just made your very own 25c 4000mah pack single cell voltage.

WAIT...skip that thought...I have seen some of your work. Wait for the SMC pack. Especially since they will have the cute case that will fit nicely in the existing battery slots (pivot ball car). They will also have all the warnings on what not to do. And after all this is the SMC thread!

Donny Lia, 2008 1/12th 17.5T Vegas Champ, posted today about his positive experiences with the new 1c SMC Lipo. He has been testing it as his track, 360 RC Speedway, in Long Island, NY. Check it out http://www.rctech.net/forum/4868515-post4212.html

Danny: If the 5700mah pack has 3 cells of 1900mah each, will each cell really contribute to a rated 142.5 amp draw power (5.7A * 25C) for the entire pack? Or will each cell's individual 47.5 amp draw power limit (1.9A * 25C) bring the pack's rated performance down? Thanks for giving some info about this

Actually the production packs will only use 2 cells so we expect the capacity to be around 3800 so the continous amp draw will be 95 amps as the amp draw increases as you put cells in parallel.

The production pack with hardcase will measure L92mm x W46mm x H22mm.

The bottom does have some humps to fit in the battery slots but I'm not sure if the height of the bumps. I think they are 1.5mm but I don't see them dimensions on the drawing I have.
