Smile Tc5 setup, tires?, Brushless Motor?

Hi,

I am trying to keep myself from running to my LHS to get the tc5.
I need some questions answered first.
What are the best foam tires for asphalt?
Do rubber tires work for practice? If so whats the best type/brand.
I will be running at my local track. SV raceway Sun Valley, CA.
I only want to use a brushless system. Whats the best?
I think I like the Mamba max. Which motor should I get? 5700? 6600? or 7700?
I already have 2 11.1 volt 5000 Mah and a 7.4 volt 6000 Mah Maxamps lipo.
Will these work? Do I need any mods to the chassis for these batteries.
I probably will have a million more questions.
Thanks in advance for any help!

to ask YOU a question, if your running foams for asphalt, why would you practice on rubbers?

im my TC5 i have a LRP sphere comp and a novak sensored 13.5

i dont think you need to mod the chassis at all i think?

for rubber tire compounds, try the jaco green premounts

i have no idea what to use for foam

I only see guys at the track using foams. I was thinking it would save some money using rubber. Am I crazy?

Nitro onroad use foams on asphalt. Electric onroad uses rubber tires on asphalt.

SV is a HUGE track. I would buy a mod motor, something in between a 5.5 to a 3.5 BL motor. Try to keep your motor cooler than 160š F.

As far as ESC, the LRP Sphere, Novak GTB and Speedpassion GT would be good ESCs to try out.

For rubber tires, I would use the Sorex brand right now if possible (28-40) if you feel that you lose traction at the end of a 5min run, next time try harder tires. This all depends on track temp also.

I use foam too. Try GRP in 35 or 37. It depends off temp.

If you are going to use lipo lrp sphere comp tc spec will be the most and brushless 5.5 to 3.5 will be nice, it depends off small or large track.

I use 6000 maxamps too and need mod in the chassis. you must raise the battery holderfor make room. May be more mod for 11v lipo

rubber setup and foam setup are alot different so you can practice with them but after that you need to change things.

2 pairs of foam are cheaper than 2 pairs of rubber so you donīt need them.

Now you have 3 answers so make 999.997 more.

What about a Mamba max esc and 5700Kv motor?
I went by the track and everyone uses foams.
Who makes the best foam tires?

You have good questions but your may be better asking the owner of the track or the guys that are racing what they use. Its already been figured out and I am sure they will be more than happy to help you out.

You would be able to see everything first hand

2 thumbs up for the mamba 5700. It moves in my TC3. Its rated to a 9.5 brushed motor and you can't beat the price. Get a sensored wire in the future.

lots of pro level people use foam tires on tc5's on asphalt. and they hook up really well. i use foams on asphalt as well and i have good grip and alows the car to give in the corner so i won't scrub speed.

If the track is going by ROAR rules, the mamba's are not on the approved systems list as of yet.
