Default LRP SPHERE TC VS. SPEED PASSION GT LPF V1.1 your thoughts?

I've been on the market for a solid ESC..I've narrowed my choices down to the LRP SPHERE TC and the SPEED PASSION GRANTURISMO LPF V1.1 and even the non-lpf. I am in need of some help from anybody who can help me make the right decision..I am now brain-dead after hours of research online, NOW I just need to hear it from the more experienced! Thanks for dropping by!

Both ESC's are good and ample performers, but you gotta love the handheld programmer for the SP speedo. No more watching and counting blinky lights

Plus SP suppport is top notch!

The setup on the lrp is incredibly easy too though. But cant go wrong with either one.

I got both and they are both great ESC. If you are going to switch between BL and Brushed motors all the time, go with TC spec.
If you going to use it on 12th scale or only running BL motors go with SP GT.

Get the SP 1.1...programmer, timing Lipo cut off adjustable, ESC & motor thermal protection, more tuning options, and super customer service.

Note of caution... when using a sensored BL motor make sure the sensor cable is properly connected. There have been reports on here (RcTech) of smoke being let out of motors if the sensor cable is not properly connected as the LRP assumes a brushed motor is connected. Just an FYI... not bashing any manufacturers, just use caution!

It might be a +1 on Speed Passion Speedo....I have not try it, but I know SP speedo can run without the sensor wire. I don't know SP design it that way but at least it won't have the problem like others that has sensor wire not connected and get motor/speedo heated problem...

Bside, that controller box looks so cool......and alot easier to see numbers then count blinks...

I am now leaning more towards the SP, but now a new question has popped up...should I stick with the GT LPF or move up to the Full size GT for my
TRF415? I will start with a 13.5/27T and work my way up..

The LPF has a 5.5 motor limit, but other than that is essentially the same. If you aren't going beyond its limits, get the LPF and use the money saved to get one of the SP Super Caps

http://www.nexusracing.com/product_i...oducts_id=1896

The capacitor that comes the SP ESC's is a little bulky. The one above is much easier to find a mounting home for.

Wow. This sounds exactly like what happen to my friend. He put in a brand new hacker 17.5 and turned on the speedo to setup and poof smoke came out the motor. We thought it was a bad motor. I bet he had the sensor wire backwards or not all the way plugged in. Very interesting cant wait to give him crap now

I have both ESCs and both are great. SP is more convenient to program with the little box, but the LRP on board programming works fine. i have not run the SP LPF in mod since it has a motor limit.

SP GT v1.1 But NOT the LPF one
p.s you don't have to use programbox with SP you can program it like LRP if you want but programmer box makes life much easier

I ran my LPF for the first time last night, I also have a LRP comp and a GTB. The LPF is the smoothest of the 3, it feels the same speedwise as the LRP, and the GTB has the least punch of the 3. I really like the programmer, I didn't play with settings, I just set them as recommended by our local "hotshoe". I ran it both with a novak 17.5 and SP 13.5.
