On Road's Health Check Up.
I thought it would be interesting to have a thread to take a look at the health of racing from one region to the next. Here we can answer the following;
1) What city and State do you race at the most? Carpet or Asphalt? 2) Whats the average total turnout where you race most? 3) What's the most popular class where you race most? 4) What's the "class of the future" that people are talking about where you race most? |

Let's put it this way: I haven't bought any new equipment in six months because I can see the death of local onroad racing on the horizon.

30 or 40 Total. I've actually been to this track when there have been 20 or so 12th scalers and 10 sedans, and other days when the numbers are reversed. Cinci is a weird area as far as class loyalty..........

12th scale is always hot until Cleveland and then it slims out.

1) Omaha, Ne HobbyPlex. Carpet
2) On Wednesday's we get around 30-35 entries in the summer. Winter racing on Sundays gets around 50 I think. 3) Right now Rubber TC 13.5 (switching to 17.5) and VTA is the most popular. Tamiya minis not far behind and has been the biggest class for a year or so. Mini's should pick back up once offroad season is done. 4) VTA and the switch to 17.5 in TC is probably the big talk now. GT10 starting and hasn't really taken off but may when the winter season begins or more concrete rules are in place. If lipo is left out the class is unlikely to grow. |
