Default Newengland Touringcar Championships

so the idea of the NewEngland TouringCar Championships has been put out their.
what is the opinion of fellow racers, what classes should be raced, limit's for batteries, motors, speedo's, all the stuff that makes racing fair and fun!

i plan to attend all the races, RC Excitement Fitchburg Mass, RC Toybox St.Johnsbury Vermont, and Maximus York Maine, a total of six races are proposed, 2 at each track at two seperate times of the year one in the fall, one in the spring or at least that's the suggestion.

the big thing is they have to be 1 day events, and have to be on the weekend, either saturday or sunday, Saturday would be preferred since it gives you time to enjoy other places around the area after racing is over.

please all help to get this setup, it will bring more racers to events and grow the touring scene for newengland.

PS kenny i want to race at rc excitement soon, can you guys please try to get a race on a saturday or sunday so i can attend. help me out guys!
i really want to race ya on your turf.

mostly because they don't know much about madness or the great crew there. Definately NOT as a slight or insult. The fact that it would be about a 6hr drive for them does not help... but still.

Everyone has their own ideas, but I'd be down for restructuring it so that we do toybox, maxi, excitement & madness with a 4 race total.

Smyka, does this mean you'd be willing to go to VT?

I think this is a great idea and look forward to making it happen.

oh definitly, Madness is open too, if people want it to happen there, this is still in forming so info is always changing.
i've raced there for off-road, it's a blast, but never raced touring there!
the guys and me from our local offroad track in VT plan to attend this years Offroad Madness event.
please add any ideas on this thread, and help to get this going, spread the idea around your track see who's interested.

Are you willing to drive all the way up to St. Johnsbury, VT to race? I don't know what people are teaching in schools these days, New England was only composed of 5 states last I looked. Although, I'd be happy to race with anyone that showed up.

Iv'e been out of school for quite some time now ( 16 yrs. ) , but arent' there 6 States in New England ( ME, VT, NH, CT, RI, MA ) ?

With a few big races during the winter months, would there be enough time and/or interest in a N.E. series? I know with the offroad races, there's seems to be a trophy event every weekend somewhere around here.

this is a good point. scheduling is critical.

There are a TON of races throughout the season. Ricky, would you start putting together a race callendar?

I was thinking that we could also see about attaching this race to others. So, as an example, if Madness already had a race planned, we could make it a point race as well. That way we double up on reasons to race and the more racers the better. You'd just end up with people who only make 1 out of 4.

If we had 5 tracks for the series we would be talking hundreds and hundreds of miles between the furthest tracks. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, only something that would have to be agreed upon.

The New England area is home to some of the very best drivers, but carpet racing has declined somewhat due to various reasons. I for one, would love to show a stand of solidarity and unification for carpet racing in NE.

im glad to see people getting along again!
so the dates for all big races are out and are as followed:
IIC-Aug 25-30, Cleveland indoor champs- Nov 26-30,
Snowbirds- Jan 27-Feb 1,
as far as the Toybox, it's up to the other places to claim dates then the toybox will take whats left, they don't have any set yet so all dates are currently open unless there is a local trophy race at your track.

Casey, do you know what dates are best with RCE and is it possible to have races on a saturday?

next question for guys from RCM, chris doesn't have indoor racing posted on the website yet, can you guys get me some info on what days you race, events that are planned for this winter, and if saturday is a good day for a series race?

next, i'll talk with Heath down at Maximus about what saturday would work best for him, we know he'll want in on this series.
