Default Traction Compound Alternatives

I have read alot of different threads about traction compounds. What are some of the alternatives to use other than off the shelf products like Jack the Gripper or Paragon? Anyone use BBQ lighter fluid, or sunscreen? Which brands? Successful with them or not

Oderless Ligher fluid with a few drops of breakfree oil seems to work.

Halfords Power Steering Fluid £5.99 ltr.

I have had better results with this than any of the other asphalt additives I've used (tweak, sxt etc).

Question:

Is Paragon or Jack the Gripper really a Traction Compound, in the literal sense?

I thought that the purpose of these chemicals was to cause the foam to swell and because softer by opening the foam cell structure. I liken it to a Micro Fiber cloth, very tacky with thousands of little fibers to grab surfaces.

If the above is all we want, than any chemical that causes Foam to expand/swell, but does not weaken the glue or dry the foam out should work fine, right?

the so-called "alternatives" were used before they came out with proper traction compounds ... stick with the real stuff, there's a reason it's been on the market as long as it has and real racers use it

People at my track are constantly ditching the "proper traction compounds" for "alternatives" that work better for them. Things like Simple Green and WD-40. Rubber tire racing.

While rubber (hard) tire racing differs from the typical foams, for which tc's (traction compunds) were originally designed, anything anyone is using that they think "works better for them" ~ since anything that's used is really being used as a rubber conditioner ~ are IMO searching for the golden fleece but seemingly satisfying themselves via the placebo effect.
If it makes ya happy, rock on ~ but don't come crying later when that pain returns.

Heck, I'm waiting for the first guy that says, "dog-doo works for me!"

TCs were originally designed for FOAM? I would check the accuracy of that.

If faster lap times is a placebo then Ill take the placebo!
