Hey Josh-

Which Trinity Lipo are you using? Will you be running this Lipo in Vegas?

Just curious which one your using.

Thanks,

Hunter's Dad.

I'm using the 3800.....its the only one that is roar approved from trinity.
I will be using it in vegas in both 13.5 and mod.
Don't let the 3800 25c rating fool you........it is the fastest thing I have ever run.

Hey Josh-

Thanks for the quick reply. What charger are you using, how many amps you charging at 6 or 7 and are you balancing the pack at all and if so who's balancer are you using.

Sorry for all the questions, thinking about getting a couple for the season and new to Lipo.

See you at the rubber tire nats.

[QUOTE=fastharry;4688805]a couple things..

I am still running my 4 year old pro 4 with a 4.5 and a orion 5000 lipo which is on it's 3rd season and has to have been charged 200 times( with a FMA scorpion).....

Harry, you meant Orion 4800 Lipo on it's 3rd season not the 5000 because
this is a brand new pack from Orion.
Where have you been? You should stop by at John's on Tuesday nights.
I'll let you try my Orion 3800's, this Lipo is awesome!

Right now i'm using the gfx for my lipo charging, the max rate I charge at is 4.8 - 5.0 - I see no reason to go any higher. I have not balanced my packs yet.........I do check them every now and then and the cells are really close so I haven't worried about the balancing part yet.

I would give the trinity 3800 a look when you do go lipo..........It looks like they can be found for $70 - $75 dollars, depending where you shop.

The following statement is on speedtech's site under the Orion 3600 25C pack:

Orion has released their new 3800mah 30C carbon edition lipo packs...

But, did you know the 3600mah 25C is the same cell? These packs exceeded every quality standard... they exceeded them to the point of being re-labeled... the "new 3800mah 30C."

What do you think?

Thats believable.........the trinity cells could and probably should be rereleased in the same hype/bs sales tactics. They are way bigger than the 3800 rating that they have.

Right now everybody sees the "30c" rating and thinks.......I need to get that.............its got to be better than the 25 or 28c packs out there. But guess what...........its just hype. Untill somebody starts matching or puting discharge numbers on the packs.....you wont know what is what.

Josh - while I don't disagree with your post and know a lot of what goes on is certainly marketing oriented, there are benefits to the higher C rating for sure. Not saying between SMC 28C ratings vs. Orion 30C - but there is a noticable difference between the Orion 4800 Platinum 20C and the 3800 30C packs that was like night in day running stock where a boost in punch is quite noticable. So if you are running earlier packs it's an easy choice to upgrade to a SMC, Trinity, or Orion if it's higher (but still agree we don't know exactly what they are capable if specs aren't stated for each pack similar to what SMC does). I tend to believe they are probably advertised with a bit lower mah capacity than what is stated to be conservative - but C rating is probably more marketing driven in some cases to get the sale.

No complaints here - I will run them based on the sticker for capacity and charging purposes and expect them to be safe and I really am very happy with my Orion 30C Race Spec batteries!

Same here, I compared my Orion 4800 20C against my Orion 3800 30C with
the Trinity 10.5 Brushless, what a difference! It's hard to speculate, it's
better you try it for your own good. I'm very happy with my Orion 3800's!
It's really a must for any spec-class where you want that extra edge!
