Default Mamba Compatible Brushless motor

Does anyone know if there is a 10.5 or 13.5 BL that is compatible with the Mamba Max ESC.

Currently I have the 6900 and 5700kv but need something a tad slower

Thanks,

s

you may have some luck with a feigo based 10.5, but ive tried a few 13.5's and havent had any real luck(dont even bother with 17.5's lol). theyll be fine once rolling, but iffy on the start. a 10.5 may be better due to the lower gearing needed.

if i was you id go with the 4600kv motor castle makes, its a tad faster than a 10.5, but slower than what you have

I keep hearing that mamba is making a 10.5 equiv, why they didnt make one first off i'll never know, isnt 10.5 and 13.5 the most common classes out there. Mamba must have had something else in mind.

4600 is still too fast, need to be legal with the rest of the gang... you know what I mean

thanks anyway.

the search goes on....

you can run a trinity duo motor sensorless, but they won't be nearly as smooth as a sensored motor.

if theyre making a 10.5 equivalent thats news to me, although at this point in time im pretty sure they have no intention to (the reason the current motors are not roar legal is that they are wound in a diffrent way than the others). the current line is more geared towards bashers(which is a much bigger crowd than racers)

as for the trinity motors, i have only tried the older style 13.5, and its works, however its slowwwww. havent tried the new style yet.

I've had great success with a vortex 7.5. all my settings are basically stock including the throttle & brake curves. My vortex is hardwired straight to the MM, i would suggest using CC bullet connectors for the new motor, if you decide to get one, so you can change the wires around. It can help eliminate cogging. Im about to purchase a new 08 7.5, ill post results in the near future.

I previously posted about the Tekin redline motors. I have never tried them myself, but a guy from RCZ hooked one up to his MM & ive heard nothing but good comments about it. The sensorless redline motors also have a removeable endbell, great for replacing bearings & maintanence. I would hardwire this motor straight to the esc since its already a sensorless only motor, so it should run great with the MM.

If you want something slower then either the 4600 Mamba motor or try the Tekin Redline motor (3200 kv version) which I think is the 657 motor. It is a sensorless motor and will perfectly with you MM. If you use any sensored type motor your car will mostly likely cogg or hesistate off the starts.

Very simply use sensorless motors with the MM (Tekin or Castle motors) and sensored motors with most other brand speedos. The only other way to have a sensored motor work correctly is wait til Castle gets their new sensored speedo in production (not sure when that will be but it is in the works) but no time table on it.

I have 3 Sidewinders and a Mamba Max and run a Trinity Duo 10.5 and a Novak 13.5. With the latest software it runs great. Best bang for the buck imho.

Any chance you can share with us your settings for MM with Novak 13.5? I still experiencing cogging issues with this combo.

Thanks!

Stock settings but I did back down the brakes a tad. I think good batteries and even more important good electrical connections are important. Did you get the latest updates from Castle?

you must be the luckiest person ever because no matter what i do i cant get my 13.5's/17.5's not to cog, and thats with top of the line match packs and everything is straight-soldered

With the Novak motors I have heard that they get confused with forward and reverse at the beginning

I have version 3.051 on my MM.

Maybe I will borrow a Novak 10.5 and give it a shot.

So stock settings eh... stay tuned for results.

thanks for the info

Your not kidding. I had a prototype Sidewinder to test for weeks and have two production Sidewinders and non of them ran sensored motors perfectly no matter what settings where used. SOme made them cogg less but they always did it some.

Yes good batteries do help alot but not the answer. Sensorless systems work best when setup to run sensorless motors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You get the same less than perfect results if you try to run sensorless motors on a sensored system.

Only alternative is to wait til Castle gets their new sensored/sensorless speedo done then you will be able to run both perfectly. Not sure when this will happen and no time table til I get my prototype and I won't even guess as to when this will happen. All I know is it is in the works as posted by the owner of Castle on another forum.
