I'm in the U.S. and I've had one for months. Just order one from RC Champ in Japan:

See....thats just it. What about an U.S. distribution of these babies? You know, my LHS? I found these all over the web, internationally. I would prefer to buy one locally.
So....anyone know when they will be available?

Tamiya hasnt released any info yet, that I can find anyway, on when or if the kit will be released to the US. Until they release it to the US, us distributors cant get stock directly from Tamiya. I'd think since they have released the car in canada, they'd also do the US. Hopefully sooner rather then later.

Tower Hobbies shows Pending Order
I would think they will be in the US in a couple of months($193.99).
I just bought my F103rm today from Japan.
Sad to say that it is cheaper to buy from Japan

Does anyone have any building tips

Tower is ALWAYS expensive for Tamiya kits. You'll def pay more at tower then japan. However when the kits get to the US you'll be able to buy from places like speedtech for more reasonable prices...

examples

Tamiya TA05 IFS-R
Tower - 299.99
Speedtechrc - 239.99

Tamiya Toyota Land Cruiser 40 CR-01 Kit
Tower - 354.99
Speedtechrc - 299.99
Stormer - 299.95

If you are buying newer Tamiya kits from Tower, you are probably overpaying.

My guess is you'll be able to get the f103rm kit from other us online retailers for closer to 160 then towers price.

I figured that Tower would be expensive. Fine and dandy that they are available over seas but....After paying the $129.99 or whatever, the shipping costs are up there. Thats the difference. I kind of figured that the car would be in the $160.00 - $170.00 range when their released here states side.
I guess I'm just gonna have to get it Internationally for now.

During a race at my club, at the lunch, we made a short race with a F201 and a F103.
Motor was the same Sport Tuned with Lipo batteries.
The 103 was outperforming the 201 every were in the track. Was a brilliant show, with a lot of ones asking which super motor was running the 103

Tamiya USA only gets a shipment once every 2 months from Japan. Once the car gets here (anytime now) you'll see the availability in the US.

I ordered mine from Stella models in JP, it was only $105 plus $30 shipping. Even when it does make it to U.S. shops, you will still want some hop-ups like the carbon rear shaft, aluminum shock, turnbuckle kit ect.....all these items I ordered from overseas too. Most U.S. shops will not carry these hop-up parts, and if they do they will be expensive. Its best to figure out exactly what parts you want to add and order them along with the kit at the same time, that way your getting a fantastic deal.

Plenty of eBay stores with both body versions for sale very cheap (I've seen $98) plus their odd shipping charges. The reality is, this car will cost you between $135 and $155 just about no matter where you get it.

So what's the difference if you buy it from Canada or Japan, or wait 2 months to buy it from your LHS?

Those odd shipping charges are the sellers way to get around paying fee's. Unless ebay changed its policy, they do not charge fee's on shipping only on actual cost of the item. Thats why you will see a kit go for $90 and have $60 for shipping. Ends up costing the same in the end though as other sellers.
