Let us hope the RM will bring more folks back into RC F-1. It still is the most realistic rc racing out there!

Kinda seems it depends on which part of the country you live in. Here in the Midwest........No one. TCs only.

My first Race RC was a Tamiya Footwork F102. We ran them at Ebersole's in Wichita on foams. Cars had to be run stock except for turnbuckles. To this day was some of the best racing I had ever done. Those stock motors lasted forever....lol I am partial to the old F102s....never did like my 103....lol

I think that for every person on here who remembers running an F1, and remembers it being the most competitive and FUN time in their RC liftetime, theres another 5-10 who arent on this thread, who had the same experience. Im going to bring down 1-2 of my nicest F1's down to the track whenever i can, even if it is for one or two practice sessions. Just seeing these things on the track should stir memories, and get others into the F1. Ive now got 5 runners, so ill put them out on the track every now and then and hopefully get some others interested. I remember them being really fun on carpet, 17t Acto F1 motors, and rubber tires. You guys should do the same at your own local tracks. You might be surprised who would want to run F1 again

As there is a limited setup changes available on the F103, i can hazard a guess. Go with 0 toe, black front springs, even try preloading them to stiffen the front, use the fixed type battery locator bars (wish i knew what they are called), not the ball type ones, and run the t bar fairly loose. Run your diff on the verge of slipping too, and thats about all you can do. Set your rear ride height according to your tire size, and then get good at controlling your throttle finger. Id also look into tire sauces on asphalt too. Put it all over the rear and work from there. Basically, get rid of steering, get the rear planted, then if you so desire, increase the front grip (sauce, little tow out, softer springs etc)

I picked up one of these little beauties from Stella models. I'm glad to see Tamiya re-releasing them. I had one years ago and really enjoyed running it, sold it to get the new F201, and while I wasnt totally disappointed, its just not the same as the 103 series.
Does anyone know of a mail order shop who carries rubber tires, and a few of the 103 hop-ups?

I took my 103 to racing last night and got a lot of interest from people. There is around 8 people wanting to race them. A few of them have the old 103's already. so its looking good for having f1 class again.

Hey Energyracing (George B)

What gearing ar you guys running at Fast Cats? Are you using the stock foams from the kit or another compound?

The gearing we used at FastCats is 104 / 25 with new tires. The tires we use are the stock box tires, the optional rear (Medium), did not work well.
