just bought a trg body with front and rear wings for mine actually, just gonna spray it black and use it for killin

i've just found out i'm the only rwd 1/10th car at fridays race.

all the others in my class are tricked up 4wd touring cars.

i guess ill have them on straight speed, acceleration etc but its a really twisty track so i dont think ill have much of a chance (with my lame skills anyways)

also got a trg diffuser too, thought id might stop the crap getting in the pinion.

will post pics of the dark destroyer before friday.

The dark destroyer for killin, that's funny

What kind of class are you running in? Is it a run what you brung class? It hardly seems fare putting a 2wd car up against 4wd's. Just point it to the corner, go flat out till you see god then lift and turn, repeat process until the race is over or they throw you out.

Anybody know where to get Tamiya (L-type if possible) bodies for cheap? Would think that without 'real' decal sheets and a re-introduction of the car that the prices would come down??? (But not too much, I still have a collection to sell off.)

WTF kind of class is that?

I run the TRG diffuser and its main benefit in my eyes is rear impact protection. It has saved me at least 4 rear wings so far.

Updated shot of my Sauber C12...

Not in bad shape for having seen a lot of track time.

I know a fellow who does lexan bodies.

You need a minimum of about 15 to make doing up one worthwhile.

the point is.. tamiya has body on body molds sitting around.. I have no idea why they dont produce 250 at a time.. and release them.

The F1 tamiya car has gone in cycles of popularity.. but it is still the same basic car since the F101.

A 1988 body will still fit an F103.

So you know there is money out there to be had.. I guess when your that big you dont care.. but if my friend made a knockoff.. you bet he would get a letter telling him to stop.

Agreed, wouldn't be so bad if they'd let you run anybody's F1 bodies in the TCS series, and there are some good ones out there, but they won't.

Hey! Tamiya! Release the hounds, er, the molds!

My car is now dialed in. I'm not consistent with it yet, but when I do string together a few good laps, I can pass about anything other than another foam tired car. I now need to revisit the pinion department. The kit 17t is nice, but I think I've got plenty of punch and not enough top end. Any thoughts on what a 19 or higher tooth pinion will do for me?

It'll give you less punch and more top end!

Higher motor temps too, so keep an eye on that and see if you have the room.

Just for that I'm sending you my 6 Cyl. 69 Sportroof any you must re-engineer it for peanuts.

(Several tons to be exact)

It wasn't terribly hot after I ran a 3600 through it. I had more issues with debris off the racing line and fouling up my front tires. Of course the shop doesn't carry pinions in stock, but they will order for me.

Believe me, I wish I could. I bet it would be a lot more fun than some of the stuff I have to deal with now... (you should have read what I typed first and deleted...lol...work has been kind of a bitch lately...)

If you're changing gearing and racing, it would make sense to make the switch over to standard 64p spurs and pinions. I did a few pages back (the part number info is there), and now I can get pinions at the LHS and also out of my supply from other cars.

so with these kits out, I imagine that means parts are available, do the newer wheels and tires fit the older F101's and 103's? and where can you get them?

I believe the wheels are a direct fit with the older cars. Try searching for rcmart or stellamodels.

There is almost nothing that you can't transplant between almost all cars.

From a 102 up.. its just a matter of changing parts.. front suspension aside.. but even that would be a new bottom plate.. about $25 and use modern front suspension. and away you go.
