EVERYONE at our carpet track does this mod, otherwise you are not competitive.
You run about 5mm ride height front and 6-7 at the rear.. once you have the balance set.. it seems to wear even front/back and all you have to do is adjust the ride hight when it gets down.

This wasnt my idea so i cant take credit for it. The guys at D-Drive gave me the idea.It worked well for me as i had alot of 1/12th tires laying around and it matches the look of the classic F1 bodies better. This raised the front of the chassis for me but you can also lower it just by turning everything up side down. I did this for my Velodrome 103L chassis as the tires are alot taller for the Indy chassis.

its amazing that i dont look that all tired, considering when that pic was taken, ive been awake for more than 48 hours... headed straight to the track from my office (damn straight graveyard shift...)

Is that track asphalt or carpet? I wish we had an indoor track like that around here. It looks nice.
thanks Vyger, its been quite a while since i ran an F-103 in anger but it all came back to me and i had a blast. i dont know what was my result but i think im 6th or 7th overall in the field of 14... but im not sure... maybe lower since my speed was a bit low compared to the other guys... but my ride was on rails! handles like a dream!

hehehehehehehehehe thanks kuanseng. but you might not recognize me for the size much longer. ive now signed up at a local gym to work out the bulk. i dream of being as thin as Kelvin Khng... (to dream the impossible dream... hehehehehe)

when you go to the Philippines, you should try the track. Nicholas Lee tried it out when he and Masaaki Hirosaka came over to demonstrate their racing gear and they loved it.

We have a spec race coming up with hand-out motors and I need some gearing help for my F103RM. The motors are 19T 30 brushed, so high revs. The track is medium-sized outdoor asphalt with decent grip. What pinion would you recommend?

Also, what type of pinions are they?

I see from your sig, that you run at Ventura, do they still run in the park?
I ran there a couple of times in the mid 90's, that track was awsome, but I could never get my car to work real well.
I would use the Tamiya metric 64 pitch 94tooth Spur, and run a pinion up in the high 20's or low 30's

Yes, we run at Freedom Park in Camarillo -- it is indeed a great track!

What is the pitch of the spur and pinion that come with the F103RM? Are they "04 module" or what?

I believe so, you want the .06 module gears, you can use normal 64 pitch pinions with them. But if you have to run the stock spur, run a 25 or 26 tooth pinion

No, I don't have to run stock anything, and I would love to be able to run standard 64 pitch pinions. So there's an .06 module spur that'll fit the RM?

Yup, those are them, didn't know they still made the white ones, the GT gears are gray, but from the same tool
