I've been working on this project for a while. I have a lot more video and more info at www.fastrc.blogspot.com.

Here are some pics:

The car is a 1/8 scale OFNA Ultra GTP converted to brushless.

That is one monster of a car... Man Greg's leg took a beating!

So... more info on that brushless motor and your electrical setup? I am going through the page and can't seem to find it... I know there are older posts. Okay, I am just too lazy to go back to the beginning.

Are you doing this for any particular reason?

I posted all the specs in the videos except for when I hit Gregs leg.

Its a 1/8 scale OFNA Ultra GTP converted to brushless.

8s Thunder Power 3300mah
Neu 2215/3Y
Castle Creations HV-110 ESC

After I push the limit of the 8s setup, I will go up to 12s.

I started out this project as a car to break the record for the fastest rc car. I initially had a 2wd drive pan car I called the "X2". But I was having a lot of problems with the tires exploding. I tried just about everything I knew, but I couldn't fix the problem. I worked on the "X2" for about a year then I decided to try a different platform. I got the OFNA and called it the "X3". The X3 doesn't have as high speed potential of the X2, but I think I can get some decent speeds out of it.

I don't know why more people aren't posting...maybe they're just in awe of the car.

So I am curious--your blog leaves off with saying you will have more space at another area--have you tested there yet?

I'll definitely be watching this, keep up the good work

Thanks for the comments Mooshu!

No, I haven't tested at this new area yet. The last test session took place on 6/22/08. We are on schedule to try the new location this weekend (6/29/08). I reached 83 mph but I was at the limit of the space I could run. We have about 700 ft of area to test. We test on a full size 1/8 mile drag racing track. But we dont test on the drag racing surface because it is way too slick. We test in the shutdown area that is right after the prepared drag surface. This has much better traction. So when we test, we start at the end of the 1/8 mile and drive toward the very end of the shutdown area. To get up to these speeds we have to go back as far as we can in on the drag racing surface, but we will just spin out. and we have to slow down before the sand pit at the end of the shutdown area. When I hit 83 mph I was at the extent of the amount of space I could use. When you watch the 83 mph run, you can kind of see when I start out I am all the way in the dark, very slippery prepared drag racing surface and at the end of the run I almost hit the sand pit. So its time to find new testing location to be able to get higher speeds.

Location where we have been testing

Possible new testing location. Much more room
