According to RC World (Japan), they claim is water proof. In Japan, it is sold for around US$230.

I don't plan on getting the quantum 2 yet because I just got the SX12 and sold my SX 9.
The only real problem is that you have to use different Capacitor. The best is use Novak's or the big one from Yokomo for 3300mah.

there is a sx12 and a sx12W (waterproof)
the sx12 is cheaper than the sx12w

The waterproof thingie will probably prevent a lot of warranty returns. Not all places are as dry as So-cal. Up here we raced in the fog and a bunch of people blew up their speedos from water condensing on the track and cars.
Besides, think of the possibilities: Proline can come out with some "Paddle" type baloon tires so we can race T4's in the pool!

Racing in the UK and Europe is often held in "less than ideal" conditions, the racing continues if rain affects the meeting.
Waterproof speedies are quite obviously very important.

do you run the MTroniks with mod motors?
I have one too, but I used in a micro and haven't had the balls yet to put it in my XXX-S instead of my V12XC.
How does it do in a "full size" car?

T4's in the pool with paddle tires and little skiis in the front. I'm all over that

Be warned- GM's warranty service is sub par for how much those things cost.
I had a Worlds V12 go out on me and sent it in to Horizon. They wouldn't replace the bad board- they only offered to replace the whole ESC for $155 which is a joke since you could buy them new for $180. Atleast Novak and LRP offers half price replacement cost assuming the warranty has passed which is lifetime with LRP.
Just my experience...
