proper gearing @ WLRC
 
i have a hot bodies cyclone moor speed and for the moment i have a ratio of 8.7 30 pinion and 108 spur (64 pitch of course) and my motor novak 4.5 brushless runs a a bit hot:flaming: is it normalle or is it my gearing wrong :confused: i race at west london

Sounds a bit out.

When i have raced there i geared about 7-7.5 overall ratio on a 3.5 brushless.

You need top be looking for a ratio around 6.7.

I've been anywhere from 7.5 to 6.5 (ish) with the 4.5 in. I think you're geared to high at 8.7

Remember that gearing too high OR too low will increase the amount of heat in the motor at the end of a run. There's definitely a sweet spot
