I am thinking of buying the 10r5 kit to replace my old HPI 10g pan car. With the 10r5, do I need to buy small servo that is normally required by 1/12? Can I use the standard servo for TC?

It appears to take a mini servo. Give me another couple of days and I will report back.

Hi guys !

I am planning to buy one as well.
But as said before, what lipo will we use if any ?

The price for the 10R5 is ok, a lot cheaper than the Corally 10X.

I would like to start a class over here as well.

I would love to hear back when someone has his 10R5 already

Just my 2 cents

Many RC greetings from Belgium.

No LiPo possible in these cars. Voltage is all wrong, and the reduced weight means the cars won't have any traction, or any steering. You need to run 4 x NiMh cells to have a chance of being competitive - sorry!

EnerG and EP cells are now very good, and we find them to be lasting a long time with good performance. They don't go flat during storage for about eight weeks (put in 2000mAh to store) and they don't overheat during charging. Very good cells.

I ran my BMI DB10R last week with a 12 x 2 on 60mm/rev, with EnerG cells, and was as fast down the straight as drivers using 5.5BL. This is a cheap class, and great fun to drive. Don't worry about LiPo, use NiMh for more smiles per drive!! HTH

Im very interested in a car like this.
Does rc10R5 kit includes body and tires?
Which bl motor(nš of turns/kv) do you guys recommend for 4 cells on a 1/8 track(big for 1/10)?
I have a 5.5T GM-Racing motor waiting to be mounted on a car,but not sure if its ok for this car.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply Slower One

I will put in 4 nimh cells then.
Is there a big difference in power and run time compared to lipo ?

How long do you run with your 12x2 motor ?

i have a 5.5 BL and an LRP TC Spec already waiting to put in the R5 as soon as i order one

Greetings,

Christoph

NiMh cells are usually more powerful than LiPo, but that isn't a problem in this class - there is much more power than grip!

Our races are five minutes long, or do you mean how long does the motor run between rebuilds? If it's the 'rebuild' question, I don't know, as this is the first time it was run. It looks OK, so I will run it again this weekend.

5.5BL is OK with four cells, and the Sphere is a good speedo. You should take off the fan - it is not needed and it will probably not fit under the bodyshell. HTH

Hi SlowerOne,

Most of the lipo guys run like 10-15 minutes on their batteries until they have to recharge.
That was my question, when are your 4 cells dead, after 8-10 minutes ?

Anyone have their 10R5 already ?

Thanks

Greetz,
Christoph

You can run lipos in the Bmi DB10R which SlowerOne drives , it was designed around them and you can get a weighted lipo tray for it to bring the cars weight to the same as 4 cell nimh

I was thinking about getting the RC10R5 and still might one day but have gone with the Bmi car since it lipo friendly and that's all i run .

The RC10R5 has the same tray for batteries (4), so if there is a need for lipo, AE will make something, i think.

I the meantime i will run nimh

Greetings,

Christoph

Does anyone have a setup from vegas for the 10r5. I just picked one up and was looking for a good starting point on the Lilac tires.

Regarding the set up sheet for the IIC I think we have posted it.
If not I will check and make sure it gets on soon.
Myself I ran the first practice with the car as it came from the kit box and it was really good. As the grip rose and the competition heated up I made some minor tweeks to get just a bit more steering. The car is very good in kit form, nothing is required to upgrade the car, just bolt on the spec tires and the body of your choice and you should be competitive.

Thanks Sean, I appreciate the help. When installing the side springs, it tells you to bottom out the screw in the retainer. But doesn't say how to adjust them. My guess was to adjust the tweak in the car.
