AMB Transponder Cloning
#17
Hi Flying Monkey, the turn around is 2 to 3 days for basic (blue LED and a standard length lead) cloned PTX orders. Customised transponders are made to order and take about a week or so (the PTX Custom Clone Order Form is used for custom orders, from here: www.rclaps.com).

Nashracer,
I have indeed a PT with the number 2222222.
There are no copies from it as our policy is that we don't make clone numbers!

Hi shadow102, if you have no AMB transponder you will need to order a Custom ID PTX. The shrink wrap version isn't dirt or waterproof, you need a hard cased version which is 100% waterproof, dustproof and fuelproof. The shrink versions are recommended for indoor use or outdoors only used in a sealed radio box etc.
Hi CraigM, we have seen transponders with a name on the case but still show up as a number when the loop is crossed. I'm surprised nobody has said they have an interesting or special number like 2345678 or 3456789 they would be easy ones to remember.

How do I go about ordering a PTX with a custom ID number? None of the order forms I have found mention it.

I do not speak for them but with a seven digit ID number there are ten million possible numbers so the odds of two people being at the same race with the same number are one in ten million. Many lotteries have better odds then that.

Also, I know the leads are replaceable but can I get it with an Airtronics/Sanwa lead?

I don't think you can pick your own numbers.

this is exactly correct. only amb understands what teh transponder sends to the decorder box and only they know how to interpret the code and translate it to an amb transponder number.
all mrt is doing is reading the code that your transponder emits and "cloning" that code to an mrt transponder.
e.g. if the amb transponder is emitting abcdefg and the number printer on the outside is 12345, then mrt is cloning the "abcdefg". so that each time the mrt crosses the loop, it send abcdefg and the amb decoder box says, oh that is 12345.

Most of the time you will be using the one number that you got as a clone I have 2 of them now and at big races where you run 2 or 3 classes with the clone you have a hard time telling if the laps to which car you ran with the PTX I change the ID for pratice and then swith back to the clone number when racing start. Also I have one home track that will not work with my clone (nothing to do with the clone) the RD put a 1 in front of my number and the system will not take my clone anymore so when I run there I just switch number and it works ok.
