I received a few photos this morning from Shawn Palmer who was in Charlotte this weekend for the first of these four events. This one is is pretty cool... notice the slogan..."ROARs back Sundays!"

I hope you guys have fun with this project and it works well.

Demonstartions of rc of any kinda to the general public is very unproductive in my experience. Imho it wont get any more regular rc racers but as long as the venture is not costing memebers money(which isn't) then have fun

I have a taken part in many RC Bike demonstartion around England and on a couple of occasions the brca have paid fuel cost. They have done diddly squat to increase numbers racing...

Promotion and support of local clubs is 99% best way to put time and resources in getting more regular rc racers.

For example if you do this truck racing thing in various different areas you could have invited 10 racers from a local club to do a little car demo and advertise where the club is and the website. But as someone
else has said, people while just groan when they find out they can't race semi trucks lol.

For all the people who have been bitching about posters here because they are not 100% supportive of this venture I suggest you provide us with evidence that this sort of thing will increase racing numbers before being insulting.

The picture of the setup looks great but any promotion of ROAR looks very subliminal at best.

Edit - BTW I thought Ice road truckers was a great tv series!

ROAR deserves kudos, not criticism.
Exactly. This is how you get your foot in the door. Who knows, interest in this could lead to a show about R/C cars or R/C racing.

Bingo!

Jev, you're probably right. This isn't going to bring a million new members into ROAR, but to not do because it doesn't fit some kind of template doesn't make sense. Here in the US the biggest (by far) motorsports market is NASCAR. Make all the snide comments you want, that doesn't change the fact that Sprint Cup is the #2 spectator sport in the US (NFL is #1). This is free advertising for our hobby in a huge market. Once we get them hooked we can educate them later.

There are stickers on the trucks... Look a little closer at that picture.

I would like to see more stickers and larger ones next time.... but this is what we had at the moment and adjustments can be made.

Great work. I have seen a rebirth of ROAR since you have come on board. I am proud of you and I have been touting that. Just ask Shawn P.

Now time for some serious sucking up...

But Shawn is lost without great leadership. Just like Adam would be lost.

Seriously though, this type of thing would never have been looked at in previous boards. Very good work in sourrounding yourself with good people.

Well Adam was forced on you, I know.

More like I was forced on poor Adam... I'm sure he would have much preferred doing something else other than building a jillion RC Semi Trucks a few weeks ago.... LOL
