Here in Chicago, we're on our second season of racing at Strictly RC Raceway.

http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthre...=158033&page=6

We're expecting a nice size increase from last year's regular racers.

Vintage Trans Am will play a nice part for our racing program.

We'll be paying special attention to rookie drivers and have plans in the works to keep and attract rookie racers.

I second the denver track as well,
You guys have worked so hard to give colorado another racing venue.

I appreciate your guys's effort.

That track is amazing, and i hope it will bring new people into the hobby due to its location.

Speaking of which,
The track closest to me (a simple non perminate pvc layout located in front of HobbyTownUSA that is set up every sunday in Fort Collins) just started their 13th season of asphalt racing, and is still going strong.

If that doesn't say anything about the popularity of colorado parking lot racing, i dont know what does.
As far as i know, there are NO active perminate asphalt tracks in colorado (not including MHOR),
however,
there are 3 active parking lot tracks (CORRC raceway at invesco feild as well as the HobbyTownUSA's Fort Collins and HobbyTownUSA Westminister parking lot tracks.

I started racing in a grade school parking lot back about '88 with a TRC Pro 10, the asphalt was old, worn and looked like small boulders, but we raced and thought it was great, from there the club built a "permanent " track out in the country, and the club folded in about 18 months, and now 20 years later, I'm racing in a parking lot again, for the 3rd year now. We have a decent t/c base and were supposed to have our first VTA race today, mother nature didn't see it that way tho. We use the parking lot in front of a closed Piggly Wiggly store in a strip mall,(with permission). Always have a decent turn out, even when the track temp passes 140F. So it seems like it can be done with out a lot of headache. oh yeah,, we are in Fayetteville, NC So come on out and play!!

After several tries to find a park location, we decided to get back into racing in a parking lot in the back of a Karting Facility. We picked up a road dome setup for cheap (really fast to setup). Hopefully it works out this year.

Success!!!
4 people did show! On mothers Day...Thanks Mom, we owe ya.

Not bad for a first time parking lot race. I was expecting alot of hiccups with my transpoder system but it performed well with a 12 y/o laptop. I'm not bragging but I was really impressed with the visitors. Had some fellow racers come check us out so that can spread the word.

they get them in the uncut lengths it is the vinyl fencing you may be able to find something like it near you and is cheaper and a lil more forgiving than the hard barriers

In the UK, back in the 2000 era, I used to race on a track that was build and put away by its members every race day.

To this very day it was one of the most friendliest and challenging club championships I have been part of.....

There was a sweeping 180 degreee right hand bend where the top 3 cars would be side by side, nothing in it, soft HPI tyres squealing with the heat from the track. We didnt use soda, or any additives.... No one had the edge and if they did it was one incident by them and the people behind would be right on your tail.... The rest of the field would not be that far behind us either.

Im not taking anything away from todays racing as to me, all racing is good when its close, but it has been some of my happiest racing days.

A good days racing is made with a good atmosphere and close racing... Car park racing has all the credentials to make that happen with the right background.....

When reading this thread, it only reaffirms my allegiance to : www.superiorhobbies.com!!!
12 years they have stood strong against the many "Parking Lot Racing Obstacles!"
In which they have prevailed! They are now sponsoring their Summer Sizzler/June 1, July 6, August 3, and September 7,2008. Best 3 out of 4 are guaranteed an award and are eligible for the raffle drawing at the end.
