Seems like it is one of the best shaft cars around. And it's well priced too. Let's hope it stays that way when the shops get the next batch.

My biggest concern would be using a spool with a car that has a small crown gear. There are chances of tearing the smaller gear apart easily

I use this spool for my evo5. With this the handling is much better for high speed chase with gas cars.

The original one way diff makes it very hard to steer the car at conners. The front 2 wheels are upholding the car momentum. This make the car skids. If you are unlucky you'll ended crashing.

To test the concept is simple. Just hold the car press 1/2 throttle for once then press brake. The rear wheels stop immediately. The front 2 wheels still spins and take some time to stop.

Once you replaced the 1 way diff with spool. All 4 wheels can be fully controlled.

I'm in the works of getting one of these badboys. We're starting a 17.5 spec race at our club and we did R+D for it with my old Evo IV and it was excellent. I liked the responce much beter than the TA05 that we were testing. I figure the Evo 5 MS would be just the ticket!
Could someone please tell me if they know what the distance is between the upperdeck and the lower deck is so I can sort out a esc for it.
Thanks for your help

~23.5mm but I would guess most ESCs would sit to the side of the top deck and not under it.

cannon, no worries about the crown gear. ive been in plenty of spectacular crashes with my evoV MS...and its held up well. i did strip a spool gear when i shimmed the drivetrain wrong, hit an island and didnt let off. car is very durable.

evoV MS owners.. im in the process of getting a one piece upper deck made also. i mentioned it in the evoV thread. if you are interested, please PM me.

would that 1pc topdeck eliminate the rear aluminum deck brace?

yes. the sides will also be a bit thinner to allow for bigger pinions. this new upper deck will be (wait for it....) ........ OPTIMIZED for 17.5 racing!

what does this mean? it will have a smaller opening for the spur gear. with the one piece, it will tie the rear end in and will give it less flex, which means it'll free up the rear end a bit more.

of course this might make the car handle like a pile of crap, but then again thats why im making a prototype to try out

Have you run it indoors at all? What do you think of the car's build and such?
