For the record im not POOPing on the unit, Im not knocking it,I just wondered how closely related it was to the NOVAK. It was an honest queston and so many "exclusive products we use are carbon copies" Obviously this new system is sourcing its components(case, fan, part of the main board and heat sink) from the same place as novak... Its not a knock on the sytem simply an observation, and had it been a rebadged novak for a Losi it would not have made a difference to me.. In fact it woudl indicate that novak had something new to release! It its got nothing to do with novak thats fine too.

From the specs it surely looks like what the GTB should be or could be if they released a GTB2.

Anyway sorry to get all the sponsored guys and fanboys all upset. You would swear you all owned stocks in Losi or something... geewizz

The programming, setup, etc... on the Losi ESC is all different than the GTB. Even the one-touch setup is slightly different than Novak.

Making changes on the Losi ESC are limited to the different stored profiles without the programming card or PC interface.

The Losi ESC and Novak GTB are more like step-brothers, similar in many ways, but the programming inside the Losi ESC are not Novak like.

Time will tell when Novak releases their next Brushless ESC. When they do, I hope they drop the dual motor capability of the GTB, making it Brushless only.

What's the advantage of that?

Ah. Yeah, Novak have said a few times it doesn't affect the size at all. If Tekin's approach to smaller design works, maybe we'll see some others do the same.

Yeah, I mean their approach of jamming it full of very high-quality FETs. I believe that's how they got the size down, not by dropping brushed support.

Weird thing is that the quoted on resistance is lower in the novak than the top tekin. Novak has 18 fets and the tekin has 48.

The novak super sport has twin fets which were effectivly 2 fets in one package which might be what tekin have used. I think they are cheaper but take less space.

Made it through the first day of racing with the Losi 13.5 system on my '008.

I ran a 96 Spur and 39 pinion, for a 4.185 FDR. Tires were 58mm Jaco Prizm Double Pinks. This is a lower FDR than any Novak 13.5 motor and ESC combo I've run. Temps came off around 160F. I had the timing set to 6-deg, initial punch to high, drag brake on 12%.

Overall punch and speed was comparable to another Xray '008 with an LRP TC Spec with Novak 13.5, and a Schumacher Mi3 with a Speed Passion GT and SP 13.5 motor.

Try lowering the timing down to 2 and gear up a tooth or 2. I have found that the 13.5 likes this and it seems to give a little more punch.

Yea, I will give it a shot. I think the motor has a little left in it. The Losi ESC/Motor combo seems to have more low-mid range power and less top-end than the Novak/LRP combo.

I was wondering how it would do against the Novak motor. Thanks for the report. I guess its not surprising what you found. From what I could see, the Losi motors have less KV (which could equate to lower top end and more low/mid punch).

Default check out the heat sink

Took a pic of the heat sink, kinda intresting, the cooling air pushed in from the fan is Actall directed to Move through the heat sink and out on all 4 sides of the heatsink, ( instead of just blowing the Cooling Air onto the flat cooling fins.

sorry for the low Quality pics ( Can you say camera Phone) ill get a better pic tomorrow

Funny, I bet you took the fan off because it broke. The Losi ESC uses the same crappy fan as a Novak ESC, just black instead of clear. Mine broke a blade on the 2nd race, before I pulled it off.
