The rubber tires from the Cross F1 will fit the 103's. I'm not sure but I think the Tamiya rubber tires are still available here and there. I know they still use them in England and Japan and have been for several years. Go to the formula1-rc.com site and click links for the Yateley school club. Rubber is all they use there. Drp them a line and see how to get them. The 1/12th foams will also fit the F201 wheels but grind the inside ridges on the wheels first. The stock foam tires for the 103's are still available and also fit the 201's. Wings? Try Cross again along with champrc.com and d-drivesports.com. They sell the 103 wings and bodies (very cool bodies) that come from chevron models.com. rcindycars.com still has 103 wings in stock and there is another car that uses them. I'll find what I can on that. Go get'em! Keep me informed on how the races are going there.

Almost forgot. The Corally body is a perfect fit as is the one for the Duratrax Delphi car which is still in stock. you can also try vansinvent.com. For some reason he is hard to catch but he makes 3 or 4 different bodies for the 103. MLP will be back in July with a body also for them. Hope this helps.

Well, all I can say Oscar is "You da man!". Is this a personal project or do you have plans to introduce this car to us poor forgoten F1 racers so we can make some laps with it.

Oscar.,
That is a very unique rear suspension. Very nice and clean.

im guessing the 103FM and GT would perform similar since its pretty much the same chassis except it uses touring car wheels.
if the F103FM was setup well it would be quicker the f201. but if not the f201 would be fast just coz its easier to drive.

Ive driven my F103 lemans (porsche) against TC's a few months back. On a tight carpet track, on rubber tires, what the F103 had on the straights, the TC made up in the corners. It was a fairly even battle, but if you pushed the F103 too hard, you lost lol.

As for the F201, its basically an inefficient TC shaft drivetrain. The F201 has the ease of 4wd. It depends on track surface. Tight technical asphalt, the F201 will win easily. But the F103 on foam tires, I havent run foams on an F1 for years, ive always considered it cheating! On a fast winding track, the F103 should be the victor. Pure speculation of course!

As a long time F1 fan and F1 electric racer my humble opinion is:

Tamiya F103 and F103GT are nice cars to race, with the longer wheel base for 2 WD it can be tricky to get them dialed it. With direct drive you have to be wary of punching it out of corners. Rubber or foam you have to watch out for the tires spinning out.

Tamiya F201 and F201 with a 3Racing chassis, the orginal F201 gearing is limited with it's tight chassis is not a match for F103s. The #racing chassis is a different story. I was able to get hop-ups to be able to gear it up and with the carbon fibre chassis once you got it dialed in it screamed. I had a 64P 84 tooth spur with a 36 pinion set-up

I ran the 3-Racing F1 chassis at the birds last Janurary and I had it set-up and dialed in for 6 cell battery and rubber tires. The rules ended up being 4 cell battery and foam tires. The other F1 were Corrally that used foam tires. The orginal heat was moved to go about an hour later ( they changed it and I missed/didn't notice it ) so when I tried to use the charger they supplied for a top off I had trouble figuring it out. One of the other racers said he had one and hooked me up for a peak charge. The charger vented 1 battery ( 4200 ) right as I was putting the body on. A second cell vented on the starting grid so I ran the race with just 2 cells. Some people sitting by the long straight away were laughing everytime my car went past them as they could hear the cells going bad. I was pissed at myself for not checking up ahead of time but I was pleased that i got 17 laps to Cuffs 25 with just 2 cells ( I took the pack apart and check each cell 2 dead ones and the other 2 were about ready to go ).

Properly set up and in the hands of a competent driver, the 103RM with a silver can will be faster than a 103GT with the same motor and have about the same lap times as an F201 with a very good stock motor. When the F103's were phased out in 2001 (it's really the same car) the better drivers were running lap times that were very comparable to- and in some cases better than- GT1 at the time.

Hey nova F1. I heard what happened down there at the "birds", very sad about the battery thing. I had to work, alphacat had surgery, Marty was just too sick and I'm still not sure what CRC was doing in the F1 class...nothing it seemed. I think alphacat is going to push for it again to get his new cars in the light this time. Think you might make the F103 grand return in GA for that TCS race? Nothing like forcing an issue, right!
