Probably the most popular F1 car ever was the F103 by Tamiya. You can still get them from Asia. I got mine from an ebayer in Hong Kong. It's race ready, I'm just waiting on F1 to make a comeback.

Hey! Alphacat and I have the same car as you. His is as nice as yours but mine has some wear on it. For some reason at the end of every main everyone likes to dogpile on my cars...oh well. Everyone calls it the PIAA PET!The one you have is the special frame edition which according to alphacat the top frame piece is upside down. I guess it helps, mine will fly.
I wish everyone lived in my area. We are on our 4th year of the F1 AllStar Tour and having a ball with them. We have two F1 classes and 2wd and 4wd run together. F1 is 6-cell and 2wd's use brushed stock motors or 17.5 brushless, Li-Po is ok. 4wd's can run down to a 19T brushed or the brushless equvilant. GP2 is the 4-cell class and it is brushed motors only, no Li-Po. 2wd with 27T and 4wd down to a 19T. It works for us and it gets better every year. We are also getting prepped for the second F1 Builders cup race. Last year was killer with Hyperdrive taking home the gold. It is a team race with two cars on each team and the points are added to see which team gets the overall win. Very cool event. This year should be Hyperdrive, RCIndycars, Corally, Alpha, NIKKO,, MLP, and we hope Cross if they make it into the country in time and possibly Tamiya all going after the cup. Place your bets on who will take Hyperdrive down this year. Or will they make it win #2.

Almost finished my prototype F1

I used the rearpod from a F103
Frontwing and body F201
Wheelhubs F103GT
Tyres F201

Still need to make the body posts
and adjust an F201 Wiliams body.

I havent heard anything back from my LHS (i suggested he oreder a few of them) so not sure if we have it here in Canada, but i ordered from RC Champ, and got three sent out a month or so ago. One already built, two still in shrink wrap. I decided to keep the F103RM body, and painted a Cross M23 Mclaren instead. Now im just dying to get it to the track!

Way to go OscarF1! Now that is a car to be proud of. What chassis is that?

Evostyle, your wish is going to be answered. Prime time Hobbies in Calhoun,Ga is having a TCS race it seems and F1 will return. Alphacat and I are passing the word to every F103 driver in the US right now (and he knows a bunch) to make it to this race. The hobbyshop owner is also an F103 fan and he all but demands that they attend this race even if Tamiya does not recognize it right now. We're going to force it on them with a bunch of 2wd's on the line. Plans are being made. This will be very cool!

Id go straight to RC champ to get Tamiya. My LHS here doesnt care to carry much Tamiya, and the guy running it is totally cool with me ordering online. Its mostly Xray here. Service has been amazing from RC champ for me too.

This is my own development,
still in progress.

This week I will build the next prototype,
with dampers between the rearpod and the battery.

The front works quit well,
but the rear needs some improvement.

Few weeks ago i made some sketches and was encouraged by the Tech racing chassis.
Managed to make a better servo position.

Everybody gather up all the F103's you can get your hands on. If Primetime hobbies in Calhoun,GA gets the TCS race the owner is an F103 fan and wants the F1 class to make a big apperance there during the event. That should send Tamiya a message. The word is that if it happens it may be 4-cell and silver can motors. Which is fine since they are pretty quick with 4-cells. {Tip} use the foam tires that are available from Tamiya and Tower. Rubber does not work so well there as does foam. There has even been talk of using 1/12th foam on the stock wheels but don't quote me on that. Pinks? Purples?

So 1/12th foams fit the stock rims? We're just about to start racing them again at our club (along with 201s) so I need to find a supply of tires. The old tamiya solid rubber ones always worked the best on asphalt but I don't think they are made anymore

Does anyone know where you can get bodies for them complete with wings?
