Tamiya Calsonic Skyline GT-R

Does anyone have one of these? I just bought one for my son and was wondering if it is a decent R/C car.

Yeah. It's a Skyline GT-R body by Tamiya. If this helps it's a TL-01.

just went to check it out for you

have alot of free time on my hands

could be one of these
TA-04-S http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/rc/...a04/58285.html
TA-04 http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/rc/...a04/58269.html
TL-01
http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/rc/...l01/58255.html

tamiya makes really solid parts especially the ta-04 ones
im not 100% sure about the TL-01 as i know nothing about it. but it shouldnt be too bad

good starting car

it's a good car for beginners because it's really durable...my friend and i launched them off stairs and stuff and it's been alright...the calsonic was also my first car!

in all honesty it depends on the atmosphere of the track. if people are too competitive, it takes the fun out of racing. what i would prefer is having a few buddies do parking lot races. those who can have fun and laugh about the mishaps and hack driving.

too often i see people race in fury because of long winded smack talk prior to the race itself.

IMO if the atmosphere at the track is great, the hour ride is worth it.

the atmosphere ther is really competitive cuz there are also nitros. though i always get passed and such, i think it's really fun. sometime, it's a few laps till the nitro passes me!

Ah...Calsonic...one of my favorite rc car liveries

If you need some help tuning your TLO1, here is a very good article written by a buddy of mine. He's got a nice setup that works really well.

lol

by the way (the guy who bought his son a car)

watch out if you go to the track your gonna be spending alot of money

first of all

your gonna buy springs unless your really lucky
your gonna need more batteries (4 packs) 2400's +
buy spare parts
your son is gonna beg your for a new motor to keep up with the competative guyz
probably have a charger already
buy tools
buy wheels <-i didnt think it would cost alot of money until i started

this is only my 5th month r/cing i really love it but its alot of money
just bashing is alot of fun to buy only wiht a buddy

i guess you can start too with the same car that would be fun
