Default Recommendations for ESC Please...

Hi All,

I am contemplating on choosing between 2 brands of ESCs, but I would like to hear your comments on recommendations as I have not had any first-hand experience on either one. I will be needing the ESC for my 1/10 EP Tourer.

The brands of ESCs in question are:

1. M.troniks
2. MOPED

The models I'm looking towards specifically are:-

1. M.troniks Viper RV Max

or

2. MOPED V16R (Plus)
or
MOPED V16R (Pro)

Your comments/experiences is much appreciated... =)
Thanks in advanced!!!

Well I had a bad experience with Mtronixs and I have never heard of the other brand. I would get an LRP Sphere tc spec.

Brushed or Brushless? If your running Brushed there is a ton of good speed controls out there and many good buys if your thinking about picking up a used speed control. If your thinking Brushless, then I like the Speed Passion GT.

Here you go:

http://www.venom-group.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=VEN%2D1339

Save yourself $30.

If you need the combo here you go http://www.venom-group.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=VEN%2D1342. It's only $40 more then just the Speed Passion controller alone.

The controller will work with brushless and brushed motors.

The moped series (to me) are a low end speed control with cheaper components, you may not get the "rip" a higher frequency ESC can offer your chosen motor.

I wouldn't go so far to say that you should discount it from your choice, but I would think carefully before you buy one.

All I can say is that I had bad experience with Mtroniks and I've never heard of the other brand. I'd recommend LRP or Novak. Just my $2.

$40? The list price is only a $25 difference. Id gladly pay the $25 for the all black vs the ugly green and the great support the speedpassion guys provide.

Good for you. Keep in mind Venom can give the same support too. They are not a small company in this industry. How about the Orion 120A controller, it's black too. Just don't know the price of it yet. Good thing Venom and Orion went straight to the manufacturer and not a distributor.

Speed Passion GT $199.95 (stormer hobbies)
Speed Passion Motor $79.95 (stormer hobbies) = $279.90

Venum 120A $169.99
Venum motor $74.99
The combo is $229.99

I made a mistake and sorry for your correction. The Combo from Venum will only be $30.04 over the Speed Passion not $40 like I said above, but the combo from Venum is still $49.91 lower.

Still more expensive then the Venom. I just gave the guy some options. Please do the same as most of the guys here are doing.
