TOTF (Timing On The Fly)

is there a well written article that covers this not just for the Tekin esc but in general?

timing and boost question:

I did a search through the thread but it's huge so I don't know if it's been already answered or not;

I am running a 17.5 setup offroad and when using the hotwire w/ the rs I noticed there's a spot for timing which is set to 80 and a spot for boost which I have set for 45, it runs well would like more low end, sitting at 3000-13000 with 8* timing on the motor ( trinity duo 3 ) and trying to understand what the timing portion should be set at, is 80 too high? Does it even work if in Sensored Only mode? I don't know what the timing portion does aside from the boost setting. Running 2.12 FWD Only , Sensored Only Mode still looking for more bottom end, my FDR as it sits without boost is almost 9.50:1

TIA

I don't know anything about offroad setups but timing advance is only used in dual mode. For sensored mode you will be focusing on timing boost and turbo. The RPM range dictates the range which the timing boost is applied.

This should do it but I need some help with ESC setup.

Car: Kyosho TF-5 Shin
Tire: Rubber Slick
Gear ratio: 7.46:1 106T/26T 64P This wil likely drop to say 8.0 to 8.4ish
Battery: 2S 45C Lipo
Motor: Tekin Redline 4.5T (Stock timing)
ESC: Tekin RS Pro

Current Version: 212
Brushless Forward Only with Brake
Voltage Cutoff: 2S
Drive Mode: Sensored Only
Motor Direction: Normal
Throttle Profile: 3
Current Limit: 9570
Throttle Min: 0
Drag Break: Off
Brake Strength: 60
Reverse Speed: Off
Neutral Width: 3
Push Control: Off
Brake Min: 0
Timing Advance: Min
Boost: 020
Start/End RPM: 5443/200165-6k start, 30k end
Turbo: 5off until proper gearing is found.
Turbo Ramp: 1
Turbo Delay: 1.00

Im running on a large outdoor track and the straight is really long,
I could use a "second gear" to get some top speed but I can't feel any turbo kickin?

I have not tested the current setup but I used a similar last time but with Turbo 15 and Ramp 3.
Tested Turbo Delay from 0.5 - 2.0 with no difference.
I'd like to see the setup changes above in red. Adding a 2n TT3520 power cap will also help with heat. I'd like to see the physical layout in the car also.

What software? What setup? What car? Motor? etc.

Radio "over" calibrating isn't really necessary anymore. However if you do experience erratic turbo operation, etc this can be the issue. If you feel this is the case simply calibrate your esc/radio at 100/100. Then bump your "hi" or "throttle" side to 105 or 110 MAX! Calibrating at 100 then bumping to 150 can and will cause other issues.

The "timing advance" is a dual mode or sensorless motor timing amount. If you're running sensored only setups this will not apply unless you have a sensor system failure.

Where are you geared in this offroad setup? How big is the track? Where is your "min throttle" set?

Great I will try that setup!
Actually current gear ratio are 8.08:1 106T/28T 64P but I was about to change to 26T but I will leave it then

I having problem finding a good layout in the Shin, when it overheated the esc was mounted behind the motor.
If this dont work Im planing to move RX on-top of the servo and add 2x 25mm high-rpm fans blowing directly on the esc.

I still havent add a second cap but I will before next testing

That layout is much better. However you're still getting minimal air across the posts...

The 2nd cap will help.

Default RS Pro Question

Hello all,

I just pick up an RS Pro and love it. If I run a 3S lipo, do I have to run an external RX battery or I could just plug and play without doing anything.

Please advice!

Thank You!
Phil
