Default Offroad Gearing

Gday All,

I have just bolted (stuck) an RS into my Team Associated T4 for offroad racing, and then proceeded to blow the tyre off the rims in the bench test, WOW! The difference between my old ESC and the RS is amazing.

I was wondering what the difference was between the older ESC gearing (recommended at 7.5 FDR) and what I should be running with the RS and its timing options? Should I be down at 8 or so FDR to get more bottom-end and then use the timing to get the top-end? Should I leave it the same and see what the temps do?

Ben

You're going the wrong way with that motor. You should be gearing up big-time. Start with no turbo, gear it for acceleration on the infield, then add turbo to reach the end of the straight, if you need it. I'd be looking at gearing around 5.0 to start with for off-road.

Try opening the receiver case and blowing it out. If it is full of dust and dirt this will happen.

I run 604fs and 603fs receivers with RS in a couple differant models with no problems.

@ full throttle : 55° (or 45°?)

Is the negative value on the motor substracted to the ESC value?

Thanks anyway!
i am presuming that there is 30 degrees of physical motor timing on the LRP x12 motor at its middle point, so when i run the -10 insert, it leaves me with 20 degrees of physical motor timing which remains static and set regardless of esc settings.

so therefore, at 0 rpm there is a total of 20 degrees physical (or static) motor timing..

at 9200 rpm, the esc starts to feed on timing which adds to the motor physical timing...

by the time the rpm reaches 24000, there is the static 20 degrees physical motor timing plus 40 degrees of esc motor timing, giving a total of 60 degrees..

when i hit full throttle, the esc adds on another 15 degrees of turbo timing, giving a maximum of 75 degrees of total timing achievable with the settings i've chosen.

Is it shutting down the car or are you losing power?
Do you know at what temp this is happening?

How old is your Rx? The first shipments of FAAST Rx were notorious for having thermal issues, especially for Nitro guys. There are plenty of pictures of Jared Tebo's 1/8 buggy with a swiss cheesed Rx box to keep the Rx cool.

Default Changing Motor Timing

I apologize for the newbe question that I should know, but how do you change the motor timing? I have not done it in a while. So I loosened the motor plastic cap screws and tried to turn the black cap to no avail. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks and God Bless
