I'm not having problems with the Turbo cutting in, but my 12 year old daughter (whom also races 10.5T) was complaining that the Turbo was cutting in far too late down the main straight. I suspected that she is simply not getting on full throttle soon enough on the sweeper leading onto the main straight. Hence, I cut her turbo delay down from 0.4 seconds to 0.2, which appears to have solved the problem, but I suspect that she will now be slower in the infield. Hence, I plan to set her turbo delay to 0.3 seconds, then do the 90% vs 100% calibration trick. However, I was wondering which would be better out of the following two options, or maybe there is no difference?
  • Calibrate at 90%, then set the controller to 100%
  • Calibrate at 100%, then set the controller to say 110%.

I think both ways is the same for a electronic ESC. I personally use calibrate @90%, then set @100% method.

I wonder why they have anything over 100% ... maybe this is for non-electric speed controller purposes.

You'll be fine either way.

Personally, I use 140 and 150 throttle max settings on my KO Eurus.

I do the same. I figured I would get that infinitesimal improvement in resolution by using all of the available electronic throttle travel. I also had one car not want to accept recalibration using my Helios unless it was above 130. Just habit now . . .

I'm running a Tekin 21.5T in a F104 pro with the following settings;

Start RPM 2727
End RPM 10502
Timing Boost 40
Turbo Boost 10
Throttle Profile 4
Tubo Ramp 2
Delay 0.3
Neutral Width 5
Rollout 81mm

Track is medium to large free flowing track. Currently motor after 5min run is 122 degress F after each run.
I feel the car is very sluggish in the infield. With all the reading I'm doing, and if I understand it right, am I correct to lower my Timing Boost to say 20 and up the turbo Boost to solve this feeling
If so, what would be a good starting point for these settings, without getting the motor too hot and not sacificing straight line speed. I understand I should be aiming for around 135-145 as a good guide.

Any information would be appreciated.

Well its settled then, I will calibrate at 100%, then boost the controller throttle highpoint to 110%. I figured that if I calibrated at 90% and reset the controller throttle highpoint to 100% it would have made the throttle harder to control, probably requiring a negative throttle curve setting on the controller in order to offset the over eager trigger finger. But with calibration at 100% and resetting the controller throttle highpoint to 110% it should make the throttle easier to control.

Thanks for all your comments.

I'm not sure if it is appropriate for a 21.5T, but with my 10.5T I had the timing boost starting at 4,600 and ending at 12,000 which worked well. Then I tried starting at about 3,000 which was terrible ... sort of sluggish like you suggested.

Perhaps try changing your timing boost rpm range to 4,600 to 12,000 and leave all your other settings as they are. My understanding is that you should be aiming for 160 to 180 deg F afer a 5 minute full pace session. Hence, if with the above settings you are not getting there, perhaps you can change your FDR, or give both your timing boost and turbo boost another 5 deg each.

Good luck.

122f is nothing, you can gear/boost up til you get about 160-170f. When I started on timing 40, the car felt like a dog.
Go
+10 on the timing to 50
up 1 on ramp to 3

if the temps are below 160f, try lowering the turbo delay. I have best results with 0 delay personally.

have fun playing around, half the fun is tinkering on the lap top

What settings would you all recommend for a redline 7.5 in a tc5 on a 100x50 track? I'm heading to the track now
