I am referring to timing boost..not turbo. And I too would like a nice instruction sheet.

me neither.. i just happen to put them in the pit bag. randy stated to drop 4-8 teeth off with new program. i started with 4. didnt seem very fats. went 2 more got better but still not correct yet.. went 3 more and was very good all over the board. i think a 9.4 will be the best gear when i go back. it still have plentty of pull at the end off the straightaway. overall new program is very good. thanks again tekin crew for you hard work. jeremy

Randy confirmed above Ramp is only for Turbo Boost, not timing boost. The RPM ranges are for timing boost.

Too confusing

Preset profiles would be nice. Flexible is nice and all but it gets damn confusing at times. The delay thing for turbo boost just seems weird. Why not just have a second curve at a different RPM range?

PitNamedGordie: Randy's post Back on page 648...

The ramping you're referring to is for Turbo.

Quick example, if your start RPM is 5k and your end RPM is 10k and you have your Boost timing set for 50, you're going to add 10 degrees of timing every 1k RPM between 5k and 10k until you hit 50.

If your Start and End RPM has a wider range, say 5k to 15k, you're going to add just 5 degrees per 1k RPM between your range.

Narrower range is going to add more timing as the revs come up.

Let's do the math:

If you select a Ramp of "2", and you have 40 degrees of timing set for Boost, the ESC will add 4 degrees (of the 40 degrees you set) every tenth of a second.

.1 sec - 4 degrees
.2 sec - 8 degrees
.3 sec - 12 degrees
.4 sec - 16 degrees
etc...until you reach 40 degrees...

40 @ 4 degrees every.10 sec = 40 degrees of timing in 1 second.

Meaning you will have reached the 40 degrees of boost in 1 second. That is your ramp time.

Ramp Settings:
1 = 2 degrees every 1/10th second - Slowest Ramp
2 = 4 degrees every 1/10th second - Faster Ramp
3 = 6 degrees every 1/10th second - Fastest Ramp

NOW...the ramp starts at your "Start RPM" and you will reach your boost setting at the "End RPM".

whewwwww deep breathe...

Now apply that to Start and End RPM...

So the shorter distance between the Start and End RPM and Ramp will determined how quickly you will add timing.

If you have a Start of 5000 RPM and an end of 10000 RPM you will add 40 degrees of timing from 5000 RPM to 10000 RPM in about 1 second (if your acceleration is constant...like on a straightaway).

Clear as mud?

Don't misquote what the new settings do either, or you'll be called on it repeatedly over multiple pages!

+1 on this. Different tracks, different house rules.

Comments on VTA rules with this version aside, what would be a good starting setup with a Duo 2 21.5 for VTA? I'm running a XXX-S G+ and would also like gearing recommendations. With the 4.2-4.6 VTA window, should I just go straight to 4.6? Should I stick with the factory motor timing and let the RS do all the adjusting or turn it up a notch?

I gathered up a couple of quick ballpark numbers for those interested in the duo2 17.5 and 13.5 numbers. Hopefully they help when thinking about boost rpm settings. Where you set it, and how wide you make it, will depend on car/application, tracksize and shape...etc. This is dirty math based on kv rating x voltage. 5 is what is listed, 8 is what i picked for a mostly charged battery... somewhere half way in the middle of your race.

duo2 13.5 = 14,000 rpm @ 5.0v
duo2 13.5 = 22,400 rpm @ 8.0v
2800kv
(edit: but I also found this that shows 17,300 rpms for a 13.5 duo - http://www.rctech.net/forum/attachme...mg_4288-1-.jpg )

duo2 17.5 = 11,000 rpm @ 5.0v
duo2 17.5 = 17,600 rpm @ 8.0v
2200kv

Somebody please correct me if im wrong... but I really want to know what the overall maximum RPM of these motors are so that I can get an accurate picture in my head of where to set my boost RPM settings too.
