I was running 54.5mmpr tonight with my 17.5 12th scale on a medium sized track and man I sure had some HP, I haven't driven my car in two months and was only a tenth off the best guy that's been racing pretty steady all season. I am very happy with the extra timing! 85 tooth spur and 36 tooth pinion. I don't have to buy wagon wheels to race my car! Oh I settled on 38* of total timing. I am running a Duo, the only other thing changed on speed control is more aggressive profile 5. It does not matter where you get the timing from, my motor is set to max timing and my friends duo we set-up with mid timing and more boost to equal the same over-all timing as me and we have pretty much the same HP.

Wow, 54.5mm just doesn't sound real for a 17.5...

Just so I'm clear, you're running your Duo in the 20* endbell position, and 18 on the boost slider? And your friend I would assume is running the 10* endbell position and 28 on the boost slider? Is he running in the 54.5 rollout range too?

I'm almost sorry I bought all those giant pinions now...

Randy - Thanks for sending me the 189 update. Once I open the attachment, what's the process to get my Hotwire to upload it?

There's an auto run file that works great for XP. If you have Vista follow the detailed instructions that Orbital posted or that we have posted up on our Tekin Forum under the Hotwire section to remove the "hidden" folder Vista has a death grip on!

When you're done just make sure that your esc shows 189 as the "current version."

I am seriously considering trading in my Sphere TC's for RS Pro's. What are the advantages over the sphere, and what are the disadvantages. The one thing I am concerned about is the ease to program. Is the hotwire mandatory to have proper updates and programming? I am not looking for bashing of sphere TC or tekin RS just info to make an educated decision.

I run off-road mod, on road mod and super stock.

Hi,

New owner of a Tekin RS PRO Speedy.

Thing is working fine apart from a delay or pause when the car is static and give it 100% throttle.

ESC is connected to a 10.5 LRP motor and throttle Curve is currently set of #3.

This prob doesnt exist when the car is moving. Once its up and running all is OK. Its almost like the feeling of traction control?

Any ideas? Is this normal?

Cheers

All LED's flash when 100% throttle is applied. This means its not receiving a radio signal?!?

The RS is smaller and lighter than the LRP, I haven't run an LRP so I really don't know how adjustable it is or how it feels to drive. The RS is very easy to program with the hotwire interface. The RS firmware is upgradeable via the Hotwire. Unless you're running the lowest turn mods, you can run the RS instead of the RS Pro and save even more weight.

In my opinion you won't get all you can out of the RS without access to a Hotwire.

i've got both - sphere & RSPro - on offroad 2wd & 4wd.

Both have been faultless, for me, so far.

RSPro advantage over Sphere?
- size
- weight
- you can download new software versions by using the hotwire
- can run in hybrid mode therefore allowing you to finish (or even start) a race with a damaged sensor cable
- ease of program (both a pro & con for me) - "pro" because you can adjust via the hotwire interface , "con" because you need to hook it up to a notebook if you want to use the hotwire interface (i classify this as a disadvantage when compared to the Venom, Losi or Quark which use programmable cards). HAVING SAID THAT, u can also adjust the set-up directly on the RSPro by pressing the buttons (exactly the same as sphere)

Disadvantage?
Yet to come across any ..

Couple questions guys. I just bought a novak 21.5, should I run sensored only or not. Also would the timing boost in the 189 software make a big difference on this motor. I assume it would since the timing is not adjustable. Just lookihg for a starting point for this motor.

I also noticed the Novak motor has alot more magnet strength (slightly harder to turn) than my tekin 17.5 and 13.5. The brakes seem alot stronger on the novak than the tekins with the same 100% setting in hotwire. Is this normal for tekin motors.

Thank for the help
