Well I did exactly that. The car made it 5mtrs across the floor and bang.

This is now the 2nd time I have had this happen. Might be time for the Redline to go in the bin and change to something thats actually reliable.

That and the fact that I'm still waiting on my replacement for the 1st one has really put me off the product for the time being.

Looks like I wont get any racing in this weekend now either.

Well if thats the case about the only thing I could put it down to is wheel spin on the floor. Now I have to try to get a replacement rotor / motor for the weekend and try to do something about this one.

Just wondering if anyone here has noticed the difference in brakes from ESC to ESC? I have an RS and an RS Pro, and the brakes on the RS are significantly better than the Pro. Same settings, same motor, same car (I have 2 cars set up the same). This has got me thinking as some of the guys running the Tekin ESCs at the local track have the ability to lock the brakes up, and some of us just kind of slows down to a halt (at slower speeds it brakes a lot better). There must be a huge variation in the manufacturing of the ESC, or the quality of the FETs.

@ Randy --> Should I send it in for a check-up or just wait till the new software gets released?

That's really odd. I run a Redline 17.5, 13.5 and 6.5 and have never managed to do that to a rotor, even free wheeling them briefly (except for the 6.5 which has too much RPM to risk that).

I run pretty similar settings that 20Smoke recommended for your 17.5 but with 14 Turbo with 1 second delay. My end RPM is 18,000 and start 5000. My FDR is 6.96.

I've had good luck so far with the Redline motors but the 17.5 I have tends to run on the hot side compared to the other 2.

Even free wheeling a 17.5 with those settings I don't see how it could make enough RPM to do that to a rotor. Maybe if the boost and turbo and motor timing were all maxed out but it would cook the motor in no time at all on the track.

could be a tired rotor in one of your 2 same motors.

try swapping the 2 motors around and see if its any different

Tried that already. Still the same. Basically I have swapped almost everything between the both cars, and the brakes on the RS are still a lot stronger than the Pro....

Thanks.

20smoke run the mission as a 540. For all I know it could be yur old car as I got it 2nd (well maybe 3rd) hand.

SpongerX yes it's a bit weird. I think my first one may have been due to heat but I'm not 100% sure.

When I get a replacement rotor I may back it off slightly from 20smokes settings and creep up on it a little and check temps. I really don't know what happened with this one. I'll email tekin and see what they have to say about it. Don't want to have to replace rotors every 3 meets.

I have only seen 1 other rotor do that before and it was mine but it was a Team Powers 17.5 not a Redline when I tried to get it replaced I was told thats racing and was never taken care of I didnt make it 10 feet across the track it was crazy so be glad you are using a good company like Tekin that will stand behind there products lupin.

I am going to run my RS with a redline 17.5 for the first time this weekend and I need a good baseline setup. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. I can't give much info on the track I'll be running on, other than it's asphalt, because I haven't seen it yet. I am going to the TCS race in Memphis, so I don't know how long the straight is or how technical the track will be.

That type of rotor failure is super rare. 9 out of 10 times it is from free wheeling but anything can fail.

If the motor is under warranty we'll take care of it. I would like to see the motor as well.

The brakes on the RS Pro should be nearly identical to the ones on the RS assuming they're setup exactly the same. Granted the Pro has more fet's but it's not enough to feel the difference.

I would verify you don't have ABS or something else off from model to model. The suggestion of the rotor being different/weak is also something to look at.
