No, there is no advantage. If anything it's a disadvantage. The stock cap has superior qualities for it's job. IF you do anything you should/could add a 2nd cap TT3520.

I've just dusted off my 1/10 touring car and updated the software to the new 203 and would like a little guidence to base settings please. I run on a small technical high grip carpet track using rubber tyres, track is approx 24m x 12m. Using the old 200 software i had plenty of speed without the turbo but always seemed to lack the torque / punch of the lrp's and Nosrams.

Xray T2 009
Tekin RS 203 firmware
Tekin 10.5 timing on can at 0
7.4v 5400mah 45c Orion lipo
FDR high 6's early 7's motor comes off cool / 100 degrees f after 5 min race

I'm slightly confused by the motor / can timing as people have said to turn it up to get more punch but others say it increases speed / revs? My lack of punch is not soft batteries as i have tried / borrowed others with no performance gain. Any help appreciated.

FWIW: I run a Tekin 17.5 and was tuning around 0* on the can. Always seemed to lack "punch" for me - as well as oddly low temps. Set the can @ 10* and WHAMMO, it now has "punch" and temps went up a good +25*F.

Hi: Can anyone tell me if there is any problem with operating a Futaba transmitter in HRS mode with the RS ESC or is it better to use the PPM mode.
Thanks in advance.

Hi I am about to try a Nosram X12 Pure Evo 10.5 (not sure if this is the same as the LRP in ALL respects)

Does anyone know what the real engine timing is at the factory default level ie the 2 dot timing adaptor?

Someone said to me to use the 4 dot adaptor (-10*) but I read somewhere that the 4 dot retards the timing, which suggests to me that the 2 dot is<+10*

I know there is no simple answer but has anyone got a view on a good motor timing setting on these - I am more interested in infield punch than top speed.

Apparently it's something like 28 - 32 degrees at zero on the motor.

Are you asking because you cannot sync the ESC to the Transmitter?

If so, in some cases, (with Futaba Transmitters), it is a known "issue" (I use this term very light way, it's not an issue, just an extra step to tune in the ESC to the Transmitter) to reverse the throttle channel to allow the ESC to be sync'd to the Transmitter.

Hope that answers your question!

Thanks. That's more like the figure I had in mind. So the statement on this website that no.1 timing adapter retards the timing is misleading, all it does is reduce the timing advance 10 degrees down to say 18-22, yes?

So far so good. I am using FASST though. YMMV.

How does the start RPM affect what kind of final drive you run?

Let's say for 17.5 (stock) you are running a 6.5 final drive with a 3,000 start RPM. You then raise the start RPM to 6,000. Would you want to move the start RPM a ~6.0 final, or the other way to a ~7.0 final? I don't know which direction to take the final drive when making changes to the start RPM.

In your example you would want to move closer to the 6.0 FDR. When you increase the start rpm you are applying less timing at any rpm lower than your end rpm. *all assuming you have a properly set end rpm.
