That is correct.

They even have dyno's to test the entire car with stored data from each track, suspension, chassis, engine and all are finely tuned before a new car ever sees the real track !

This v203 is bloody fantastic, I raced it today and wasn't expecting the car to be so fast and I've still got some final adjustments to make. With the Redline 17.5, with a pace of 14 laps averaging 24 secs a lap

At the track today at the Summer Nats here in Australia, the speed advantage that the V203 Tekin ESC had was incredible. Although not winning because of some bad luck and inconsistent driving, the Tekin was vastly superior to the Wave ESC and the LRP SPX ESC's.

The passing down the straight on one occassion looked like a 10.5 passing a 17.5 !!!!

I ran it today with 10.5 and holy Moses, it was stupid fast and made a 10.5 scream like a mod. On the straight it was stupid how fast this software makes a spec motor go.

I must be the only one out here that thinks this update sucks... at least so far...

I spent 4 hours today trying to get my car to even match the speed and feel of v200 and couldn't even get close...

My setup when I gave up was -
Touring Car
Tekin 17.5
0 motor
40 boost
0 turbo
start rpm 3??? (don't remember the exact number)
end rpm 12000

Gearing was 4.66FDR which is probably still a little high but a fair way down from where I was with v200(down 2 teeth on the pinion and up 3 on the spur - one of the vagaries of the Tigermoth car is limited motor movement) but the car just wasn't working for me on the straight which is about 20m (65feet) long on a small but fast flowing track... yes I had HEAPS more punch out of the tighter turns but it seemed to run out of puff down the straight... basically like an under-geared brushed motor would..

motor temp was about 65C (150F)on a 36C day (track temp near 50C)..

Any useful thoughts?

what was your speedy setup, and gearing ? i had my first electric race ever yesterday. was a short track, and a hot day. was really a fun day, but i did a 24 lapper yesterday, and the guys at the track said that is very fast for that track. using a tekin 10.5 from Cannon, and FDR of 6.49 and a roll out of 30.48.
i know nothing of this FDR and roll out, and only had a 22 pinion and 84 spur to use. the car was pretty fast, and easy to drive. ill hook up the hotwire later and write down what i had in the speedy, and ill ask for some suggestions as well, if thats ok. thanks. Patto.....

0 turbo ?
try 8
i think thats what i used yesterday. i thaught id start conservative, i see most guys run 10 turbo, your start and end rpm seems ok, but with 0 turbo, nothing is happening apart from motor timing. but dont quote me on that, im still learning and very green

Well see thats where I am getting confused as that seems to contradict what other have said earlier about not using turbo in v203 until the gearing is basically right

once it is right then you add the turbo. then you will see the difference.

Your FDR is all wrong. In rollout terms that equates to around 42mm. The fast cars are using 38mm !!!!. Turn the timing boost up to 50 and put 10 on the turbo

And yes .. you are the only one that thinks it sucks

Still about 8mm less rollout than I was using in v200...

And everyone is entitled to an opinion ...

Try looking on the Tekin website .... they have setups showing a rollout of 34mm

In the Teams section of the site

Agreed, definitely look at http://teamtekin.com/hotwire/ESCsetups/index.html

Just looking at your start and end RPM's they are too high, have a look at a couple of the different 17.5 set up sheets set to around what is listed. You will find that most 17.5 chassis types have a similar RPM range.
