Hey Randy (or anyone else)

Not looking for an explination on the differences between dual mode and sensored, but was wondering if I should try dual mode in VTA.

Is sensored mode with 0* motor timing and 30* boost equivalent to 100% in dual mode with 0* on the motor? What are the pros and cons of running a 21.5 in dual mode?

The short answer is no, but if you want a more detailed answer read on...

I have used dual drive on a small track and 13.5 in sedan to good effect, but it does have a much different feel to it.

The best thing to do is try it for yourself in practice and try different setups with it, but the hot ticket for 21.5 is sensored.

Dual drive mostly used for mod, to smooth the power band out. You need sensored with 21.5 to get the most rip out of it.

Used with a 13.5 it felt much smoother, which allowed me to concentrate on my racing line a lot more, as I had less speed to deal with.

With less speed, the car felt more drivable but down the straight, there were quicker cars than me. I felt like I had an advantage through the infield though. Our track is 10x15 metres.

Hope that helps

Hopefully it's not so fast that it gets banned. Seems the trend, slow the cars down, and here i thought we were racing these things! I guess my 'race car' is too fast...

Have not run any Tekin motors yet. How is the Redlinr 13.5 vs like a Duo/Duo2?

I like the rip of my redline Chris, but I even had it working well on dual mode on a smaller track (10x15m), so it has plenty of room to open up just how you want it to

Got nothing against the Duo's, just never used them to compare.

Dual mode at 100(max) is close to sensored only mode with say 0 motor timing close to 0 on boost.

There are some tolerances in the motors that create a bit more timing.

Dual mode has shown to be quite fast in 1/12 17.5 and WGT 10.5 classes. It does require a totally different gearing setup than a sensored only setup.

Dual mode is a sensored start(or whenever we need to use the sensors) and sensorless drive. The biggest difference is that the sensors are not used for any timing calculations.

The dynamic timing software is just too dangerous for average Joe that maxes all adjustments, straps in a 2.5 turn and uses the stock pinion with his RTR. We are protecting ourselves as well as our customers and think it has been the right thing to do till now.

The new software will be freely available to everyone before the Snowbirds. The team will be testing it for at least 2 weeks before release. The software will be posted on the website for download along with information for setups. We are going to ask people to register. Now that most are familiar with the new setups and not using pinions as large as the spur like we were, we think there is less risk to both of us.

Tekin Prez
So I will not have it for my up coming race. It's January 3rt 2010 .
The snowbirds are coming over 40 days.
I hope it will come sooner than in 40 days.
