I dunno if this makes any sense, but it seems like to me... the lower the drag brake value, the weaker the brakes. I experienced this a few weeks back at the Coliseum. Brake strength is left at 100%. Just does not make sense.

Today I started with 25% drag, ended up at 47%. Tomorrow I'm gonna try 60% with a Duo 17.5.

And I'm not talking about drag brake strength, I'm talking about applying full brakes with your finger. Brakes are just weak sauce.

MAY bee the motor..When I drove a Novak motor I noticed the brakes were way weaker the time I had to run 1. When I run a DUO I can strip a spur with brakes. But I also run 60% drag most all times with brakes at 100% at all times and push brake will lock up tires.

New 17.5 Redline with RS testing. Started at 5.0, temped at 130. I switched to 4.8 and decreased timing boost to 10, set the motor at 10*, turned on turbo to 10 and set delay a little high so I could get used to it at 0.7 seconds. I let the shop owner take it for a spin. He immediately charged his 13.5 up to compare and lap times were withing 3 or 4 tenths. Brakes were set at 85 and I could lock it up and slide it. I started with 55 drag brake, but will probably increase it another 5 to try it. Final temps came off at 150*. Now I just need lots of laps!

Thanks Randy and the gents who post their theories here. Keep up the great pool of info.

John

John:

Glad you got it working and are happy with it. You should post your setup and track info for others to use...

We had an open practice day today at Camarillo and we ran v200 in 17.5TC, 13.5TC, 12th/17.5 and an F104 17.5. Results were awesome.

I was going to run my RCGT all day, but nobody else showed up with an RCGT car so I put some Sorex 36Rs on and ran with the 13.5TC guys in my tub chassis IFS-R with the big heavy NSX body and a Redline 17.5.

My setup:

RS/Redline 17.5 v200
DB 0
Brake 100
TP 3
10 on the motor
20 boost
max turbo, 0.5 sec

FDR 4.38

Temp was at most 150F after a 6-minute run. We had some sessions where I ran a whole TP 5000 40C pack until it was more than soft (15-20 minutes) and motor never saw more than 175F. I saw a definite drop in temps from previous versions (I never ran 199) while gaining significant performance.

In the pan car and the F104 the motors would barely get warm. The owner geared until he was more than happy with both the rip and the top end and the motors were probably at 100F. It was pretty ridiculous.

The 17.5 in my TC was more than up to the task of hanging with the bulk of the 13.5s. I would get pulled at the end of the straight by a 13.5/SPX but he didn't have any real advantage in the infield. Interestingly, we ran an almost identical FDR.

Turbo is fantastic. I had it set to ramp in right as I was sweeping onto the main part of the straight and that was ideal. My main problem today was overshooting my turn-in at the end of the straight due to the extra speed.

On the layout we ran today I could put down pretty consistent 15.5s with the Redline 17.5. Hot lap of the day was 14.0 by one of our best drivers with a 13.5 motor with his typical laps in the the mid 14s.

Tekin FTW!

My car was very fast, easily gaining on another car fitted with 4.5T BL, both on the straight and infield. The turbo kicks in almost immediately after I hit the straight, but it is too short to hit the max rpm. Accelleration coming onto the straight is awesome.
I have to adjust the setup a bit to make sure that I don't lose traction at the end of the straight where it goes into a wide 90 degree turn. Probably increase DB to 20 to slow down a bit more before entering the turn.

I only use drag brake despite the track being very technical with multiple hair pin turns. I found dragbrake sufficient.
Thanks for the info brrrm. Like Randy said if your having success with the new software please share your setup's with everyone as it is extremely helpful.

Has anyone run the v200 with a 6.5 redline yet in 4wd TC?

Thanks
Adrian

I found this to be the best tip. Tune your ESC for the infield and forget about the strait. Once you have that down, turn your turbo up and win.

I need a copy of 199. This .5 sec delay is meant to be dummy proof. Just about any motor is going to top out before .5sec as long as it does not have ridiculous gearing. I am not looking for instant Turbo, but I think I could really benefit from .3-.4.

Tekin FTW!
Just for fun, Leave all your gearing the same next time out, Just ajust Turbo boost to peak right at your braking point on main straight your having issues with-aka extra speed. What I have found is get good gearing as it sounds you have for entire track and ajust Turbo to peak out right at your main braking point on main straight. That way your turbo boost is not fighting your braking. I have gained in lap times doing this. If your still gaining speed at braking point that is wasted speed. This no less has gave me better entry to corner, It has improved my laptimes on small and very large tracks. No less reduced heat from not over working motor when not needed.....

Just something to try..

EX:
LARGE tracks I run 15-18 turbo
Small tracks 8-12

Here is my v200 setup with a duo 17.5, 100' x 47' indoor asphalt very technical layout high bite.

db off
rs off
bs 100
nw 12 (4pk)
tp 4
vc off
pc off
timing boost 20
turbo boost max/.5 delay

My FDR is very low at 4.02 but I think I have some kind of mutant motor the more gear I put to it it still only comes off at around 165*-170*. I was also able to go to the middle hole for more mechanical timing. This I puts by overall timing at 47*, which is pushing the limits of any motor. I was able to TQ the last two weekends I raced in a pretty tight field.

Yeah your car had pretty good rip and the car worked great. Looked good today.

i don't know about mod as i havent run it in a while, but with spec motors like 13.5 and 17.5 i've seen FDR's easily 30% lower with tekins than with brand x's.

Hi guys.

I raced V.200 at my local club last week and it was superb. Everyone was talking about my speed down the main straight.

The track i race at is a carpet track that is aprox. 36 metres in lenght and aprox. 14-15 metres in width.

I run an Xray, using a Tekin 10.5, with a 13mm rotor, powered by 5000mAh 40c lipo's on rubber tyres and my overall ratio was 7.14. Before V.200 my ratio was 6.3 and next week i'll be gearing my Xray down even more to get the turbo working even quicker.

These are my settings for the RS Pro V.200

Sensored mode
RS - 0
DB - 0
BS - 100
NW - min
MT - BL-FW
TP - 5
PC - 0
VC - custom (7v)
TB - max
Turbo - max
Delay - 0.5
Mototr timing - 0

After 5 min the motor was coming off between 50 - 55 degrees (120 - 130F).
