Just as a comparison, here's a shot of my Losi Xcelorin speed control. Hard to tell just from the picture, but the speed control itself is significantly bigger than the RS, and that honkin' huge can on the side is its capacitor...

yeah other caps are bigger but the small one from tekin can't hold mod motors. For mod motors you have to either put two small caps or one bigger cap. Mine exploded with a 4.5t. I have now a 16v2200 on it and of yet no problems. Put also a fan on the chassis to blow towards the posts otherwise the esc and anything attached to the posts is getting hot.

Even with two Tekin caps on it, the RS still makes my Xcelorin look like a toolshed with a ceiling fan and a 55 gallon drum sitting next to it... If I wanted to run that Xcelorin in a 1/12 car, I'd have to fabricate a trailer for it...

Quick question about the capacitor. I purchased aftermarket Tekin 1000mf 16v black capaciters for my RSs, before I realised they came with one. Anyway, I can't for the life of me figure out which lead is + and which is -. The litle instruction card says that on the top of the cap is a little circle, which indicates the - side of the camp... but taht circle doesn't exist

Id appreciate any tips!

Cpt.

If they're G11 black caps there should be a "-" marker on the one leg running down the side of the cap...

I think this is right, but if you havent clipped the legs on the cap the longer leg should be the positive side....

I have heard some people using different capacitors, or 2 tekin capacitors.

Does it make a difference for stock class?

Hacker,

I sell a 4 cap board that works fine with the Tekins .. and I am in Oz so that can make it easier from what you said in your post before editing

"I somehow lost the capacitor

cannot order one as I'm from downunder and time and postage would not make it worthwhile."

Hi I am new to Tekin, impressed so far!!

I have just taken delivery of a shiney new RS Pro and am after settings. I am running a 13.5 Novak SS (until next months pay and I get a Redline) in outdoor TC here in the UK. I currently have version 1.80. I have set the motor timing back to factory (presume 0??). What settings will go well for me??

Thanks

Mark Trinder

Mark, you've got the latest software in your email in box!

I've seen quite a few guys on the team running a setup with 5 on the motor and 25 or so on the boost. Make sure you get your gearing right before doing a full run. From your previous setup you're going to drop I'd be at least 6 pinions or more(64P).
