Is it ok if I slip some heatshrink over the posts/joints/wires to make it neat?

Well I was in a hurry to get to my race and inadvertently crossed the plugs to the battery It very quickly started to smoke and the post came unsoldered from the board and the other wire also came unsoldered! I purchased and installed another one to complete the racing and I was going to just trash all of the burnt one. After a few days I decided to re-solder everything instead and see if it worked. Surprise it seemed to work! I connected it to the hotwire and all my setting appeared normal. Reinstalled it in the car and all seems to work well. I won't be racing again until after the holidays but was wondering if there is any tests I could do to check it and if I should replace the capacitor on it?

Hi all,

I am getting back into 17.5 stock with my T2 (outdoors) after a long lay-off. I have a tekin RS which I got just before I stopped racing and an old novak 17.5 (2006 maybe??).

Can someone advise on a top quality motor to go with the RS and also some suggested settings (FDR, timing, boost, whatever else!) to start with? The club allows boost and timing changes.

Thank you

No problem with shrinkwrap around post to make it look better of installation to look neater. Personal doing, its your model.

I've got 2 RS's, run them in 13.5 boosted, both with heatshrinked posts, both are two seasons old and have never registered over one light on for heat.

You probably have a novak ss motor if its like silver has the sensor wire attached and has a colored band which they are the best motors id say start out in blinky as for the fdr ask some local people but really I have a 13.5 novak ss motor and that beat my buddies 8.5 down the straight we had plenty if traction buy plently of power is what I mean so also is it brushless?

223 is the latest gen for the OG RS

" 9.8.x Includes the following features:

244 firmware platform specific to the RS GEN2, RS SPEC and RX8 GEN2."

The Gen1 RS doesn't have an adjustable BEC.

yeah thats the one, silver with a purple band and a sensor cable sticking out the back. What do you reckon about that motor?

We dont have a blinky 17.5 stock class here, so any ideas on a motor, fdr and timing/boost for the esc? I have gotten myself some SMC 6500mah 70c batteries which a few guys have praised and a Tekin redline Gen2 17.5. I understand that you are supposed to leave the can timing at 0 and then program the esc to change the timing as the motor revs up?

thanks guys
