So does anyone run this thing off road. Seems like everyone is running either 1/12 or Oval. Hopefully i will have mine by the end of the month.

main question is with this boost/timing. Hey Greg,

Hit up Kenny next time for the boost update, or I don't know if it's email-able shoot him a message. Until then if you want a decent setting for the older software try this for rubber and the same but with 45 drag for foam.

Cujo, in order for the timing(75) to be used you have to be in sensor only mode, otherwise you were just going off the physical timing of the motor. since you're running 180 I would turn you timing all the way up on the esc, and keep the temp in the 150-160 range. also see if you find someone whos has the new software and get a copy.

I just picked up a RS and I don't see in the manual where it indicates how to disable reverse or increase braking power. Can somebody help me? Thanks

Quite incorrect.

180 has no timing boost in sensored mode, so if you run sensored only you are on the motor's timing only. For the applied timing (75) to be used he needs to be in dual mode (sensored box unchecked).

Cujo I suggest you run your speedo in sensored only mode given that you run 13.5, and turn the timing on the motor to the max. Then try and get hold of the 189 from a team driver in your area, randy can hook you up for that.

Hey guys,
I'm a roadcourse racer and decided to give oval a shot. I bought the KSG Gen 3 and the Tekin RS & Redline 17.5. Up til now, I've been running all Novak & Trinity stuff, so the Tekin stuff is new to me. I'll be running the car for the first time tomorrow on a mid sized oval (Marshall's in Honesdale, PA) in the 17.5 4-cell class and I just wanted to verify with the Tekin guys that my setup on the RS sounds close to being right.

Settings:
Software 1.89
Sensored Only
Neutral Width: 5
B/L Fwd/Brake
Throttle Profile 4
Boost: 15
Motor Timing: 12
Drag Brake: 0
Brake: 80

In full race trim, with Team-Grade EP4600 cells, the car weighs in at 2.587 lbs. (1173.4g) I'm rolling out at 3.69" (93.7mm) for starters. From what I know, the Novak & LRP guys at that track roll out anywhere from 3.9" - 4" (99mm - 101mm)

Also, approximately where should my motor temp be after a 4 minute oval run? In roadcourse racing, I run my Novak and Trinity motors in the 140*-150* range and just wanted to see if the range on the Redline motors is about the same.

Thanks!

Tim

Tim, I run On road and oval both and have 4 RS/RS Pro's in my cars. You'll like the Tekin motor and the tuning of the ESC (I'm not a sponsored racer or employee either) in your pan cars. For our oval track with a 126' line, I run a roll out at 3.55 - 3.75 12 degree's in the can and 20 on the boost. I like the linear profile #3 for me and some drag brake but 40 on the break. I also use 10-15 for the neutral. You can mount the ESC in some pretty interesting spots on an oval car. With the lipo, I run it behind the lipo and in front of the rear tire on my Darkside Tornado. You would not believ how short the wires can be, even the sensor wire. I put the post towards the tire, to keep air moving around the post as that is the heat sink. The motor works well if your up in the 150 - 160 range, so as recomended many times gear down with the boost and then gear back to get the speed and temp.

Hope this helps a little.

Do you have any issues with it as far as getting dirty or wet? Just curious, thought of maybe running offroad in the future.

Cujo: If you're running 75 on the timing bar you're in dual mode just like TRF said.

He's also correct with his recomended settings: Sensored only mode, full motor timing.

If ANYONE wants 189, you can email me for it. All I ask is that you tell me where you live/race so I can point you to any team drivers in your area.

I run mostly offroad so anyone looking for offroad setup help can post in the Offorad electric section here on tech.

On the sheet of paper that comes with the RS you will see instructions for setting up motor type, profile, cutoff etc. Follow those directions on page 2. If you lost yours, here is a link RS Instructions Basically it says to do 6 then 1.

Hey guys i got some more true race testing in today at the NWIC race,
the finnal out come was this
Track is flowing with about 100' strait with sweepers at both ends.

13.5 Tekin Redline
Tekin RS Pro
Can Timing: 24
Esc Boost: 25
Linear Profile
Min Dead band
100% break and 60% drag break (drag break doesnt have any real stoping power most likely going to take it out)
Geared: 41/100 (1.7 Internal Ratio) with 55.5mm tires

Hope this gives some ppl more ideas on how to get a handle.
