Default glitching

I know there are other threads on this problem, but I couldn't find any conclusions in them and this thread is more active...

I have the RS/10.5 combo with a Savox digital servo and a Spektrum sr3000 rx. The problem is that if I turn the steering wheel too quickly, the power cuts out to my receiver for second. If I really twist the steering back and forth rapidly (not that I would do that during a race) the receiver and steering glitch like crazy for a few seconds. Slowly turning the steering seems to be fine. As far as I can tell, the throttle is totally fine and doesn't cause any glitching at all.

Is it time to try the Spektrum receiver capacitor? Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Thanks for the links. Looks like the capacitor is the obvious next step. I really don't need the power and speed of the Savox, I guess. Do you think simply swapping out the Savox for something milder will solve the problem? I'm pretty sure my LHS will exchange it.

the savox servos are just power hungry. if you swapping it will probably do the trick.

For those who might have the Spektrum/RS glitching problem now or in the future, at least so far, running the Spektrum rx capacitor seems to have solved the problem for me! I haven't raced with the setup yet, but I seem to have a rock-solid connection now between the RS, SR300, and Savox with absolutely no glitching. The difference is night and day...if I have the cap in, no glitching. If I take it out, glitching. Put it back in, no glitching.

Now... to the track!!!

I was checking various thread but did not see the answer I was looking for. I have a tekin rs laying around from a banged up touring car and was thinking of trying 4wd SC racing. Don't wannna buy a new esc. Can I use the RS (non prp) with any of the 550 brushless motors? I know there is a 5 turn li it with this esc.

No, while the "Turns" maybe in the 5T limit the RS was not meant to be used in a 6lb Short Course truck. This application is best suited for the Rx8.

+1

I've seen numerous locals try 550 motors with RS's, they don't last very long...

For me the limit without extra cooling the ESC is 6.5-7 turns

You can go lower it depend of the motor, but i dont like to be near the limit. With a x12 4.5 i have the thermal protect after 4 min

Thanks guys. So basically I'm running a huge risk 4 with anything outside of a 7.5 or 6. For the lower turns like a 5.5 and lower I'd be crazy to to risk my esc? Or should I just scrap the idea and keep my Castle mamba max esc and have at it?

Remember that is for 540 size motors, and in buggies or TC's. The RS won't be good for 550 motors at all.
If you're using a 4wd SC, that's a lot of weight to push, like Randy said, don't try it as it will end in tears!

This is very close to the setup I run on a similar size track.
Reduce the boost and turbo by 5 each but I like the feel of zero delay and 3 ramp.
