hey folks. just picked up an rs-pro and searched for my answer but no luck.. i don't yet have a hotwire so i'm looking for a good baseline that i can achieve without a hotwire for 13.5 and 10.5 novak motors in sedan.. medium/large asphalt high traction track.. i believe it's the latest publicly available software... thanks..

Gear it 4.1 to 4.2 with the default timing on the can. If you get 189 and hotwire then gear it 4.6 and 15+15 boost.

your going to use taller hearing while in dual mode(default). I would also reccomend getting a hotwire to maximize the rs's potential.

Gear for temps and speed

tallyrc, in my opinion you arent going to be able to get the rs competitive without a hotwire

But once you are able to program it with the hotwire it will be fast!

Ask around the pits and see if anyone can help program the speedie for ya, or if you are lucky and come across any of the tekin team drivers, im sure they will program the esc for you as long, as they have the equipment with them....

Which Motor and how was it setup? Rollout?

Share what you changed on your settings. Did you only change back to 1.83 or did you change something else as well, motor or sensor wire?

I've only had problems with studdering (or groaning on power) if I run too much timing. Once you get to a certain point it's going to cog or come close to coging off the corners.

It's worse if you have a ton of timing and you're overgeared.

They're not kidding when they say you need to gear down as many as 10 teeth when using the boost feature.

What I like about having the extra timing is the ability to use almost "regular" sized pinions again. I am now using 74 t spur with 40 tooth pinion running 17.5 in my 12th scale. And it IS fast!

im running a novak 13.5. i also tried a redline 13.5 and different sensor wires. on the speedo i turned boost off, throtle profile, neutral width all wit no change. it was not even close to being overgeared as i changed to 183 and ended up gearing 2 teeth taller.

If you don't mind, can I ask what 17.5 motor you're running, what timing at the motor (if any) and what settings you're running in the RS? Still looking for the optimal setting here, but closing in...

Thanks, here's what I got this weekend:

1/12 4 cell NIIMH Trinity Duo 17.5 with the endbell in the ten degree position, and varying boost sesttings and rollout.

First round, boost at 10, rollout 84.00 (46/76, tire 44.3mm) car was off the pace. 112* after the run. Very punchy in the infield, but either not enough on top or too hard to drive that punchy.

Second round boost at 10, rollout 85.63 (47/76, tire 44.1mm) car was faster overall, easier to drive, lap times fell, came off at 138 after 8 minutes.

Third round, boost at 10. rollout 87.26 (48/76, tire 44.0mm) car seemed faster yet, lap times better (same fast lap as round two, but 5 and ten lap averages better by a bit) came off at 155*after eight minutes.

Geared up once again for the main, rollout 89.08mm (49/76, 44mm tire) rolled the boost back from 10 to 2 lap times slowed a bit, not as good as round 3.

Donny Lia suggested running max boost, 0 at the endbell and gearing short. Next week I'll go that direcetion.

Eddie,

Have you checked the sensors in your motor yet using the sensor checker?

Also if you were to run too much boost you can get stuttering pretty easily.

Also, verify that the esc shows 189 in the Hotwire settings as "current."
