You know you've found horsepower with a 17.5 when the mod drivers raise an eyebrow

Thanks Tekin!

Default Initial Setting

Hey,

Im hoping someone may give me some advice on a good starting point. Im running an xray with a 1.7 ratio. thinking about a FDR of 6.06 with a 114 spur and 32 pinion. Running Lipos of course, RS Pro and a Trinity Nemesis 17.5.

Thanks in advance.

Go easy on me I have not run on-road in like 10 years lol. In other words Im gonna suck. track has medium bite and is roughly 60 x 40.

start with a 6.4 and max motor timing on the endbell, put these settings on your speedo

boost:45
turbo:10-15
delay:.05
start rpm:5300
end rpm:15000
ramp:3.0
timing advance: start at 25 and go up for more top end, just keep an eye on your temps.

I'm not sure but I thought timing advance was set at 100 only so that if the sensor wire somehow came off it would not affect the motor in sensored mode. Can someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Isn't that a little too much timing?

X2! They are fast with the milder motors. We have been going crazy fast with them.

if you move your mouse over the words timing advance when you hotwire is plugged to the esc it will tell you that the lower the number is the more low end or torque you will have, the higher the number the more top end and less torque with higher motor temps.

if you do the math its actually the same amount as 50 and 10 or 40 and 20, 45 and 15 seem to be faster because your making more power with turbo instead of cranking the crap into the timing boost itself, i was experimenting and my motor is faster and lower temps with these settings in 17.5, but on a track of 60ft. in length i would say 30-35 maybe lower timing would work, i didnt see the track size in my first read of his post.

My Nemisis motor say 40* on max timing. Plus the 60 you are adding dynamically and that's 100* of timing.

@ gonzo416:
That's what I thought too.

Could any of the team drivers confirm this?

Default over heating

I have been following this thread for months now and haven't found any answer to issue so reaching out for help.

I am running the RS with a Tekin 17.5 in my new TCX, everything is new and working beautifully except that every run over 3 min the motor temps at 190 to 210 deg. I have tried gearing from 5.8 to 7.0, stock end bell timing (14 deg) all the way down to 0 deg, boosts from 50 down to 35, turbo from 10 to max and nothing helps. I don't run push or drag, use little to no brakes during a run. Outdoor 160 x 70 FT track (Speedworld)
Current settings:
208
Boost 35
Turbo max
motor 10
delay .02
2 deg
RPM settings 2990 to 14998
Gearing 6.8 FDR
came off the track at 196 DEG....

Motor is strong and fast until about 3 min into run then gets hot and I drop about 2 seconds per lap... I was told to get differend brand motor but don't want to give up on my Tekin yet... Any ideas??????

well for one your turbo is to high, most people will tell you that max turbo is to much, i have ran my car like this before and had the same thing happen with four different motors.

Try lowering your turbo. What's your turbo ramp? Throttle profile?
