I've read them before, but there are some missing bits, like timing advance and turbo. Does that mean '0'?

Also, I'm looking for some infos with SP v3 motors. So if anyone has any, please.

Cheers

Do the settings from 208 transfer over to 212? I mean should the performance be the same with regards to turbo, boost etc?

you are asking for info that 98% of people do not run.with a mod motor it is not recommended to use sensored you can but you need to be very conservative as it comes in fast.start with a range of 5k start and a 25k end o motor 20-25 timing boost 5 -10 turbo this is what i would do is start low and work your way up but slowly

Just got myself into 1/10 Modified racing in my home track, and I need few starting points for ESC setups.

My home track is a large/fast open asphalt track with long straight and big sweeper, and I'm running RS Pro 212 version.

I have a few 4.5 ~ 5.5T Speed Passion V3 motors and gearing range is about late 8 to early 9.

I know low turn motors normally don't run timing boost and turbo, but I know some does and there must be a significant difference. I've been playing with Stock classes for a while, and just want to know how to setup timing advance/timing boost/turbo.

Thanks in advance.
Yes, it can be a big difference but in my opinion it is not needed! We made a 4wd touring car do a wheelie with a 4.5 and a high boost/turbo Tekin setup. The car was so fast it was having blow-overs like a hydro boat does.

Just start super conservative and work your way up slowly (wide RPM range and low about of boost). Personally I run a 4.5t and an LRP Sphere for mod! No timing, profile 1. The only people running boosted profiles in mod in Florida are running 10.5-7.5t motors.

I understand what you guys talking about, and yes I thought the same thing. But if you look at those two Mod setups, then you can actually find both drivers were running timing boost of 30~35. Scooby Horton runs turbo as well, which I honestly don't have gut to try it out.

From those setup sheets, timing advance remains "blank" for both drivers, which I want you guys to confirm that it means 'zero'. What I tried on my 12th scale was running 10~15 timing advance, and 45 timing boost and zero turbo, which was nice and quick. Performance of the motor was good in every second of 8 minutes, but somehow I'm struggling with 1/10 mod racing.

So, do you guys all suggests 0 timing advance, 0 timing boost and 0 turbo, to be safe? If that's what we want, then I wouldn't have any drama, but wouldn't that be pretty slow?

Some of you guys are getting confused as to when timing advance is used and when it isn't.

If you are running in sensored mode, timing advance does absolutely nothing unless your sensor lead breaks. The things that make a difference in sensored mode are boost and turbo. It is possible to set timing advance in sensored mode purely because it comes into operation if your sensor lead breaks and the RS switches into sensorless mode, and for no other reason.

If you are running in dual mode, the only thing that makes a difference is timing advance, and you can't set boost or turbo.

Trev is right.

Timing advance is ONLY used in Dual mode OR if loose your sensor lead, period.

Timing boost and Turbo boost are ONLY available in sensored only mode.

Most guys boosting any type of mod aren't using 3.0-5.0 turn motors. They're using 6.5's and 7.5's in TC with boost and turbo.

The window of error is narrower the lower the turn of the motor is. You can get away with some boost and turbo on a 6.5 but a 3.0 turn motor will NOT tolerate much of it at all.

Thanks for your input and yes this is what I read on Tekin website.

Since timing advance is irrelevant, as my sensor cable is strong enough, let me focus on timing boost. From the two above setup sheet, both of them were using 30~35 boost. Also, Scooby with 6.5T was running 14 turbo as well. My home track normally suits 4.5~5.5, so I was thinking maybe 4.5 with 30 timing boost or 5.5 with 35 boost. No turbo at all, since I don't have guts to do so. I was hoping to get some starting point, then again I'm going around the same circle.

Anyway thanks all for the info and please let me know if you have anything to add/share.

I am running 4.5t Orion with RS Pro FDR 1:7.6 large track.
Speed is about 110 km/h
timing boost 30
turbo 10 or 14
start rpm 7000
end rpm 21000
Trottle prof 1
delay 0.3 or 0.5
Motor temp 85 degr. C
ESC temp 80 degr. C
It runs very well no thermal issues
Hope this helps, this work only with RS Pro, RS will smoke with
this settings.
