To all: we are discussing the masters question as well as the body question.

Please keep in mind, there are rules to abide by and reasons for these rules. Its not as simple as just saying yes without considering all involved, the integrity of the event and the fairness to EVERY participant.

Thanks for your patience.

To all: The following announcement will be posted on the ROAR website later today.

5/12/08 T2 Body Approval Extension

After compreshensive discussion amongst the ROAR Executive Committee, the ROAR President and the ROAR On-Road Electric Committee and in the best interest of the Paved On-Road Electric Nationals and the ROAR membership it has been decided to extend the following T2 body approvals for the remainder of the '08 calendar year.

Parma 10074 Mohawk
Parma 10220 Type "M"
Parma 10089 Alpha
Protoform 1486 DNA 1
Protoform 1488 DNA 2
Protoform 1476-01 Dodge Stratus 3.0 (Carpet)
Protoform 1465 Mazda 6
Protoform 1487 Mazda Speed 6
Protoform 1479 Pontiac G
HPI HB66812 Moorespeed Mazda
HPI HB66811 Moorespeed Type D
McAllister M233 Lexus IS

These bodies fall outside of the Global Body Specifications rules either by dimension testing or expiration and resubmission date, as per the rules published in 2007 and again without change in 2008.
ROAR has been working with the body companies regarding the GBS rules and new bodies have been approved under the new GBS rules. Because the approvals have happened so close to the Paved On-Road Electric Nationals leaving such a short amount of time to get these new bodies into distribution and the large amount of like non-GBS bodies still in distribution it was determined to be in the best interest of all involved to allow the older bodies.
This ruling now matches the decision made and announced by EFRA to its general membership that expired non-GBS bodies will have their approvals extended to the end of 2008 and not beyond.
ROAR has made every effort to insure a fair and equitable race for all parties involved and it is ROAR's stance that no other extensions will be given to expired bodies beyond 12/31/2008. All bodies for the 2009 competition season must be GBS approved.

Any questions regarding the GBS rules, please contact Ruben Benitez at [email protected], Tim Potter at [email protected] or David Lee at [email protected].

So, if about 100 racers scattered over thousands of miles all breathe a sigh of releif "AHHH,,," all at the the same time, yet no one is around to hear it. Does it make a sound?

Of course ROAR is looking out for the racers... but please, gentlemen..... pleae understand we cannot push this any further than this year. The GBS rules were in place in the 2007 rule book with clear definitions as to the progression of the rule for 2008.

Its a shame body companies didn't abide by the rules as stated and ROAR is forced into making this decision. I can state - this won't occur again. I know that seems harsh but whats the point of the rule book if its not followed? What is the point of organized racing if the product companies get to make their own rules and determine their own eligibility? What is the point of cost control measures if there are none?

So, with that... I hope to see a HUGE turnout at this one.... And Master's guys... where are all the sign ups? We just made that easier too.......

Pits:
We will have a tent large enough for about 120 racers to pit comfortably inside. These spaces will be reserved for those racers who are traveling from outside our area. All racers who wish to reserve a spot in this area must contact the shop to make arrangements. (870-933-0479) The tent spaces will be reserved (for persons living outside our area) through June 6th. After June 6th any remaining spaces will be available on a first come first serve basis. For racers who live within our region or any racer preferring to pit outside, there will be plenty of space for canopies and trailers. I will have ample AC power for everyone. Compressed Air will be provided, as air compressors will not be permitted unless you are running a generator.

Yet another reminder.

They are scheduled to arrive on Friday. This first batch will not be glued. The final shipment (for the Nats) will be glued.

You can check in (tech) 3 sets at tech. If you make the "A" you can use an extra set. I will have plenty to purchase for practice as well. At the "Nats Price" of $25 per set I would imagine that some people will be stocking up.
