Default Rubber Tires

Does anyone else think that it's rediculous that it's becoming nearly impossible to find tires anywhere...?

I understand there are environmental concerns that have changed some of the compounds that can be used in tire production... but the sheer fact that most every brand of tire is getting harder and harder to come by is pretty crazy...

Vent and discuss:

It's a conspiracy to get everyone to run foams.

I really liked running rubber tires when I ran on-road. I liked it a lot better than foams.

Production issues and high demands for Rubber Tires are creating a short supply of tires. Also, with rubber carpet racing becoming more and more popular and the fact that the outdoor asphalt season is starting up, it seems we have all the ingredients for "THE PERFECT STORM"

Time to go green!

Save the races and plant more rubber trees.

Its getting plain ridiculous. When you have to order from 3 different stores just to get the three compounds that you want. What happened to the days of walking into your LHS and buying tires? Now you have speak four different languages just to get some tires.

I think if the Much More tires (Sweeps or Absolute) are any good, they are going to sell alot of them. But I am already hearing reports of the Sweeps not being up to par. I have a set of each coming to give them a try. I guess any new tire is going to be better then some 30 run RP's. Thats what the 30 stand for right? 30 runs....

If you don't mind ordering from china, rcmarket.com (rp and sorex) and rcmart.com (sorex, maybe rp) have tires. Shipping usually ends up being about 25. I get my stuff inside a week and a half. rcmarket even has old stock of Sorex in the old temp ranges for 6 a pair, probably good for practice.

I too am upset that I can't walk into my LHS and buy these tires, or even order them. Hell, I'm pissed I can't even order them in the U.S. China's got a monopoly going. Interesting since Sorex and Takeoff are made in Japan. When did those 2 become best friends? Anything to screw the Americans out of their money, I guess

Is there anyone here that can explain the actual chemical "Sorex" to me? I have no idea what it is, what purpose it serves in the tires, why it can't be obtained/made anymore, etc.

RPs work very well for our track, but since you can't get them anymore, it has become - "One who has the most stock of RPs will win the season"
It's ,mid season now, and the racers that stock piled a crap load of RPs are indeed score leaders now.

redbones, those of you who are short on RP30s, how many runs are you putting on them? Carpet or asphalt?

Also what motor is being ran, what temp the track is, and how abrasive the asphalt is would be somewhat relevant to how many runs you get, I think...

This is a 23t spec class. Sad to say though, the tires will last maybe 4race days before they start to tear. The asphalt takes a toll on these tires, but give the maximum amount of traction out of all the tires tested.
