losing mahr
i've got gp3300 and sanyo 3000hv.
the gp seems like they've been losing capacity. their output is only 2950smahr when i discharge them at 30amps, cut off at 5.1volts. the sanyo too now only carries around 2500smahr.
how do i treat 'em ? do i need to store come charge before puttin 'em away for a few weeks ?
a friend suggests to try to discharge 'em to around 2.4volts and cycle 'em again. would that be a good idea to try ?

i usually partially charge them (about 5 mins charge at 5 amps) and store them for a week for my next weekend race.
the night before a race day, i discharge them at 30amps to 5.4volts and the next morning just before i charge, i tray them and take them off the tray when the lights start to go dim.
charge them at 5amps, .30delta peak (turbo35).

Sebastian, my best results with GP's have been acheived this way,
Discharge down to .9 volts per cell at 30 amps after a run, and store. Just prior to charging, discharge at 30 amps to 5.4 again, then discharge at 5 amps down to .4 per cell, put in a RESISTOR only tray (no bulbs or diodes), till all the resistors are cool, then charge at 6 amps with a .04 cutoff. My packs have lost very little run time and the Voltag and IR have actually improved slightly.
My Sanyo HV's I abuse, and they seem to like it. Store and discharge just like the GP's, but I charge them at 8 amps with a .08 cutoff, and the runtime has suffered slightly, but the packs have WICKED punch.

What are you using to discharge @30amps? The charger I just got from JasonL only discharges @20amps.
By the way how did you do yesterday?

michaelt: The only "chargers" I know of that will discharge at 30 amps are the Victor Super IQ and IQ 3000, and the Turbo 30 series from Competition Electronics. Did you get Jason's Integy 16x9? If so, just discharge them at 20. Basically the harder you can dump them the better. I believe Integy sells a stand alone discharger called the Reactor 30 that discharges at 30 amps.
As far as my performance Sunday......... I guess it wasn't too bad. I had to come back from dead last twice and I still finished fifth. The Stock Sedan A was a pretty savage hackfest.

all the new gp cells 1.16 volts and up..
build pack
run or break in the pack in practice
dis charge down to 5.4 (6 cell) (3.6 4 cell)
before you place on charge dis charge with a real time tray or integy tray till the bulbs go out no fan.
charge at 6 amps .03 (4 cell) .05 (6 cell) pack should push 140 -150 deg when peaked/
when you are done with pack for the day..dis charge down again at 30 amps to 3.6 or 5.4 than place in tray till bulbs go out..usualy around 5 or 6 minutes is all it takes.
than dead short the pack until you use it again. take a peice of wire or solder and connect positive to negative on the pack.
you will lose 25-35 sec run time but gain voltage and lower the IR
a 1.175 pack will now go to 1.18+ IR that was 2.3 is now 1.9 and run time that was 415 is now 390+ reccomended for stock and 19 turn..mod you will need that run time...try it with one pack if your scared..
