Anything with about 100oz/in of torque and a speed around .10.

I use the Futaba BL451, which is a nice digital brushless servo.

Futaba BLS451 is awesome for TC anything.
12th scale look into a JR Z3550 or Z3650.

A good servo is:

always centers correctly every time.
never hums or buzzes at rest.
has proven circutry that does not fail under loads and bad crashes.
has gears that outlast the servo savers.

a good server picks up from the left and serves from the right.

if that didn't help any then I would suggest a futaba 9650 for the 12th scale. i swear by it ,not at it!

as mentioned by others, futaba digital 9451 is a good one for about 75-80 bucks, and the brushless bls9451 for about 100.00.

To have the ideal servos for each you will need one for each. The 1/12ths run the smaller servos. That 9602 is a good deal that Alberto posted for 1/12th. The KO949 is another one i really like. The only mini servos i stear clear from to be honest is the Hitecs. I never had any luck with them. HTH

ProTC3,

when I buy a DBR12, you'll have to give me a discount...

so I can afford to replace my Hitec Servo.

The great thing about Hitec Servos is when using Kimbrough servo savers, it gives my car the "Red Badge of Courage" since the only thing keeping that car from heading dead into a wall is that Hitec servo and one bright red servo saver.

I just never had any luck with them. It is probably just me though. If anyone gets the bad one it is usually me.

1/12th Scale:
JR 3650 (Digital) or the 3550 (Non-Digital)
Futaba 9650 or as stated, the 9602

Hello all

I've used the JR3550 and the JR3650 with complete satisfaction. People have given the Futaba 9650 some great reviews but I have yet to try the unit in a car application. I have flown the 9650's on my buddy's rc helicopter and the numbers seem to be ideal for 1/12th application. The servos are small, they are lightweight, they are quick, and they seem to provide decent torque. Good luck with your decision.

What's up CDW? What are you racing nowadays?

In 12th scale, I've used JR3550, JR3650, KO 949, and Fut 9650 all with excellent results. My experience with Hitec servos has been exactly like protc3's. I've never had a Hitec servo center for more than 3 battery packs, after that it's a constant search for center, sometimes off left, sometimes off right. That goes for their TC servos as well.

TC Servos: The only servos I've ever had in a TC were KO's. The PDS2413 is an awesome TC servo.

Very much agree with that.

I use 9650 with nylon gear in match to my touring car with a direct horn. In case I hit it hard, it would fuse out the gear only. otherwise I would love to use the metal gear one 9602 with 0.08sec. They are super light, only about 26g, perfect for 1/12. much lower current drain, compare to Airtronics 97458/Sanwa ERG-WRX, some GTB would glitch when it gets a high drain digital servo.

BLS451 has overkill torque for 1/12 even a touring car. nice 0.10 sec for handling tough but it weights too much for 1/12. I use one on my TA05MS with 3.5 GTB(no drain problem). dang, that thing can do 80mph

The Hitec's 5955 has titanium gear and 333oz/in, extremly strong! 4x4x4 monster clawer uses two. Very sweet. It is indestructible! !!Not a Plastic Hron nor Servo Saver in the World could handle this servo!!

Airtronics 97458/Sanwa ERG-WRX has 0.06 sec. lighting fast speed and digital. I found no use of it at all, good to keep one though.

don't miss out on the new futaba 9551, a very popular low profile servo.
