Default New RP-30 Pre-mounts

Any reports on the durability of the new RP-30 pre-mounts that have recently arrived at our lhs?

Ran a new set yesterday.... one practice run, 3 heats and the A.... they were just as fast in the A as the first run. I didnt notice any difference from the ones I ran from the last batch.
What do you think is different from the older ones?

Fartluck - the original RP30's were one run and done. So are you telling me that the new batch is exactly the same?

The new tires definitely don't have the quality the old ones did. The carcas of the tires seems thinner and the rubber itself seems a little lower grade. At the race this weekend at the Coliseum, I ran both an old set (new in package kept since last summer) and a brand new set out of the new batch.

The new set blistered and even peeled rubber away. There was also a lot more air gap on the tire as well and made the car very unpredictable.

The old set stayed smooth and didn't blister at all. It provided more traction than the new tires and stayed more consistent.

I heard a lot of the same from others at this race. They're definitely no where near as good as they used to be. That's just my opinion though.

Yes, they are exactly the same as when you ran them in the D-Main of the Reedy last year.

I just bought a set of RP-30s at my lhs, I wonder if I got the new ones. They have a big gap between the insert and tire, was there no gap before on the old one? I thought I bought the "old" RP-30s(I only had CS-27s, so I thought these were just different). I have yet to run them, but I will run my CS-27s if I have the new ones...unless it doesn't really matter.

If you got them at Trackside then you have the new batch.
I ran them at "The Track" yesterday... 13.5 Tc... won the A... tires look great after a day of racing... no performance drop off all day... no issues at all.
Now this is on CARPET... maybe they dont work as well on asphalt but if your running them at Trackside they will be just fine.

If you are wiping out RP30's in one run on asphalt your car is set up WRONG. They should be fast for ~4 mod runs, or 6-10 19T or 27T runs.

The new ones seem to run identical to the old ones on asphalt.

Well I ran a brand new set of 30's from this batch then a brand new set from last year and the new set was horrible and the old set was awesome., No change in setup. This was the general consensus of A main national level drivers at a race I was at this weekend.

But what do I know I'm stupid enough to drive a car that gives me a initial disadvantage anyways.
