To be honest I did try that (60spur, 40 pinion) but the car felt sluggish and the lap time was slower It seems that in the 21.5 class the gearing is almost counter-intuitive (to quote my friend PDR It feels like the motor is happier to spin with turbo than work hard with high gearing. I believe that the guys @ Castle Hill are also on very short rollouts with their Tekins yet they were doing circles around me on the straight when I had the 3.0FDR.

Default gearing and set up for TC5R 21.5 RBS Duo2

Hi Darren (decibels), can you please suggest a set up for SMA based on your testing and experience with the RBS? I'm interested in both gearing and set up of the RBS. Maybe I had incorrect setting on the RBS when I was using the long rollout (high FDR ~ 3.0). Thanks Marek

Try and use the Gear Chart site and create a table that fits your pinios and spurs.

ESC Settings - From the stock settings it seems to me that you have to take the step forward in turbo2x, since that will affect the perfect FDR/Roll out for you.

Motor Timing SP V3 - since i'm using a 9.5T SP V3 (since our rules for stock class are this turns), what i experienced is that motor works better in this ESC with timing at maximum, mixed with a change in the FDR from 5.9 to 7.0 (don't remember exactly, but its aproximated) on a Medium/Large track. Always keep an eye on motor temps!!!

That's a wrong ideia that if you use a low gear means low temperature, gear it to much down or gear it to much high and motor and Esc temperatures will be high. I'm talking in excessive diferences from optimal gear.

hope this helps, will be waiting your feedback.
Hi Jorgesimes,

thank you for trying to help me. Today was on track to test car. So now my config was: tyres ~56mm, spur 100, pinion 29. Motor timing all the way to max, 10 degree mark. ESC settings:
Neutral brake - 5;
Brake force - 3;
Turbo - 1;
Time shift - 3;
Drive profile - 4;
Brake profile - 6;
Temp cut - 2;
Lipo cut - 2;
Motor type - 1.

At start ESC worked well but after few laps (and I was not driving fast) ESC faded, speed dropped drastically. After turning ESC off and on speed comes back but again after two or three laps fades. I do not know where to look? With that same motor and same battery and Tekin RS Pro everything was working good. Where I have to look? Maybe something wrong with ESC? Maybe I have to put fan back on ESC? Maybe ESC temp cut off works? HELP!!!

@audrius - I would always prefer to use the fan. I would never leave the fan out. They have a secure margin, but even so, i would never leave the fan out.

Try to see the capacitor voltage.

From what i've tested in your case i would go for turboX2 and maybe 25 or 26 pinion. Or 1st try with your setup but using 25 or 26 pinion.

Let's see if i can explain better:

1st testing
Spur: 100
Pinion: 27
Tire Diameter: 54 mm
Roll out: 45.80

2nd testing
Spur: 100
Pinion: 29
Tire Diameter: 56 mm
Roll out: 51.02

My bet - turboX2
Spur: 100
Pinion: 24-26
Tire Diameter: 54-55 mm
Roll out: 40.72 - 44.92

What was the pinion and spur that you use with tekin?

Hope this helps.

Jorgesimes,

I will try to look at capacitor voltage. But in parallel I have contacted TeamWave support and they would like to get my ESC back for checking. There could be that the driving circuit may have problem... I think I will send ESC for inspection...
I have asked here about fan and there was post from TW that for 17.5 motor it is safe to remove the fan.
Also I do not think that two or tree laps (it is about 12 sec. for one lap going not so fast, fastest guy do it in 9 sec.) can overheat ESC or motor with my settings? Or can it?
Thank you very much for help! I will need it when my ESC comes back from TW. Then I will try what you have suggested!

@audriusv - But did you check the ESC Temp? Because i have the ideia from your post that you didn't. If you didn't check the capacitor. I had once a problem like that on a LRP SPHERE and it was just the capacitor that didn't mantain it's voltage, have changed it and power on again.

Yes, I will check capacitor.

Well I put my finger on ESC. So if it not burning I think that temp are in reasonable interval :-)

isnt the only revisions for the b software was to accommodate for the reversing for the x12 motors, or is there more?
