I think the problem was cause due to people were running timing on the low turn motors. I was running a 4 turn with 2 degree timing when my RB50 gave. I sent mine back and got a new replacement I will be trying it again but with 0 timing set on the motor.

Shouldnt it thermal or shut down when such things happen rather than just died on the spot without room for error....

Coz to me running some timing on the motor is just a lil minute error that anyone could have accidentally done without realizing it...

First night of the season back at my club tonight.

Took TQ by a lap and A main win with the Team Wave RB50 in my TC5.

ESC performed excellently.

Nice to see another brit using Team Wave speedo/motors, I have been using the RB30 just before it fully came out and loving it so much, so much better than the prev brushless system

Would have the RB50 by now but the posty decided to sign for it himself and loose the package!!!! Just waiting for Max to ship another out then I will be up and running again!!!

How are you finding the RB50? any settings you find better than others

Adam

This weekend is the Scottish Indoor Grand Prix. Stock /13.5 today. 19t /10.5 Sunday. Using Sweep 32 control tyre.

I finished 4th in the A main using the RB50 esc, a Novak 13.5 motor and Team Orion 3800 30C Lipo.
My settings on the RB50 were the following,

Neutral Brake - 3
Brake Force - 4
Turbo - 1 (On)
Time Shift - 2
Drive Profile - 7
Brake Profile - 6
Temp Cut - 5 (Off)
Lipo Cut - 3 (6.0V)

Motor was geared at 5.2 with advance set at full.

ESC was very good all day and car was quick.
Tomorrow I will be using the Team Wave 10.5 Linear motor and will post my results.

Today I finished 5th overall in A main after 3 legs using the RB50 and 10.5 Linear motor.
Geared at 5.67 with timing as factory setting.

Only settings I changed on the ESC from yesterday was the drive profile to setting 5 and the time shift set at 3.

Motor and ESC were both excellent.

Ran the Team Wave RB-50 over the weekend at the Much-More RugRacers series here in England. Was the first run with the speedo as I only received it in the post days before the event from the new UK agent (Much-More Racing), thanks Keith!
Started the day off with the speedo in supplied modes but with the Turbo switched on!
Car was very smooth and for me a little to smooth for 13.5 class so I increased the the timing function to 4 from 1 and also moved the Drive profile from the neutral setting of 5 up to a more aggressive 8.
With my previous Novak 13.5ss installed I would be geared at an fdr of 5.5 for the large in-door hall of 32x16m. This compared to the previous round running a GTB at 5.04fdr is a big help. Main reason being I find the motor stays colder through the run and with a reduced pinion size, I also feel this helps the motor spool up quicker.

Also nice to see Adam Smith over the weekend running the RB-50 in the 10.5 class.
I will add the profile later.

Regards
Richard.

Nice to see you Richard as well

As Richard said I was using the RB-50 with Team Wave 10.5... all I can say is wow... I was also starting on the "kit setup" for the speedo.. apart from the turbo on.... after some gearing changing and speaking to Richard, I but the profile onto 9.... what a difference... I came down one pinon.. putting me on to 5.72 overall.... although there were one or two drivers quicker at the end of the straight, I was on well used cells where as they had newbies..

The motor was quite warm, but that was without running a fan on the motor.. but well within the operational temperatures

Well been using the RB-50 for some weeks now, and all I can say it is an amazing bit of kit!

I used it with a different motor for a test, and I could not believe the difference in the speed with the RB50 and the other motor... so much more top end and grunt than with my old system.

I put the turbo function on and profile to 9.... although this got a little hotter than normal, I found I could drop a pinion and still be as fast with less heat...

also put my drag brake to 3 rather than 0-1 as per normal...

Looking forward to the outdoors starting soon!!!

The Turbo is just like what it says... if you put your car on the bench, and slowly increase the throttle you get to about 90%-95% max and its just this HUGE burst or power.....

Something you have to see to believe hehehehe

I can not recommend this speedo enough, and for the price, its well worth a go if your thinking of changing!

Thumbs up

i have recently switched to run team wave speed controllers through much more uk, on sunday me and the uk team associated team went to cotswold track for a day testing. i ran the speedo first with the factory settings which was fast and felt really smooth to drive, i then changed the settings a bit. i.e more timing, turbo boost on, turned up brake force... VERY IMPRESSIVE i managed to run a lap 4 tenths off the track record on very old tires on a very cold day. the speedo never skipped a beat. even though i gave it a hard time to see what it would do it was fautless.
