On resistance of RB50 is half of RB30. There are 3 phase in brushless motor, named A,B,C, each phase can handle 400Amp continuous (MOSFET spec @ 100'C core temperature) and 1600Amp Burst. In real situation, running 132Amp continuous is normal.

Depending on what LRP does with their TC Spec, I might have to look into getting one of these
Any plans for a 'flatter' version for 1/12th scales?

I'll tell you what, the fan is removable or replaceable, it can be de-soldered or monted elsewhere like mine is. I run 17.5 with the fan placed in front of the esc and it runs ice cold.

Wave's other driver runs his with an 8.5 and has the fan removed, wires clipped and still came off the track cool to the touch.

From chassis to top of highest fin, the RB-50 is .996" and to main fins is .874", its not a very tall unit at all, smaller footprint lighter and you can run your wires out the top or out the back or a combination of the two to tailor your esc to your chassis. This thing is very versatile.

Are you guys having your own super MOSFETs being made? What is the part number for the MOSFET? Are they the SO-8 type similar to what the Castle's Mamba or Tekin R1/RS ESCs (NTMFS4833N)? Most high spec on a ESC goes by the 25C temp and you went straight to a 100C. So 132A is the realistic rating going with the MOSFET's continuous drain current? Your PCB traces must be really good to handle 400A. I might try a RB-50, but I'm going to wait for more feedback.

lutech-

Maybe you can help me answer a question that nobody else has wanted to help me with.

I've asked it on a couple different threads on hear and got nothing back.

How are these guys rating their speed contollers? What I mean is on Novak's site, they are rating the GTB at 540 amps per phase, for a total of 1620. The Speedpassion GT 1.1 is rated at 720amps, but it doesn't say if its per phase or not, and here the RB-50 is rated at 400 amps per phase.

What, if anything, do these numbers mean, as in the context of what we normally do?

Also what are the 100 amp losi, 120 sp #s that you were talking about in an earlier post?

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but I am in the market for a couple new speedos, and I just want to make sure I am comparing apples to apples.

thanks

The Hobbywing Xerun 120A (Speed Passion GT) uses the irf6635 MOSFET which has a cont. drain current of 32A at a temp of 25C and it uses 8 per phase, but they are 4 in parallel which gives a rating of 128A so it's right there at the 120A advertised cont. current. Now that number you posted is the burst of 720A which is the burst cont. drain of 180A times 4. I don't know what MOSFETs Novak uses and the same for the RB-50. Now the Losi 100A uses the same irf6635 MOSFET, but they use 3 in parallel to give you 96A cont. so 100A is also somewhat realistic. Now the R1/RS Pro uses the NTMFS4833N which has a cont. drain current of 26A at a temp of 25C and it uses 16 per phase, but 8 in parallel which gives a rating of 208A and if we used the cont. burst rating of the MOSFET used in the R1/RS Pro it would produce 1528A as per the datasheet specs. The problem is that most traces and wires can't handle 100A+ for a long period of time that's why I like to use that number as the burst rating. Now the thing I like about the IRF MOSFET is hat it uses metal case instead of the plastic ones used by others and as we know metal dissipates heat better then plastic. I'm not an engineer and I hope someone else will come in and shed some light on things I didn't mention.

Default Strange behaviour RB 50

My RB 50 behave strange, after Ive changed the receiver connection it workt well, butt after a few laps its begin to jitter on full throttle, and where first at full throttle the green light flash continuous there was no full throttle indication anymore and the speed was also gone.
The green is not broken because in mode set-up it works
Ive run 4.5t orion at 5 cell NiMh with very normal gear ratio.
I like to have a answhere, because i have to much trouble to get this thing working as it is supposed to be

Thanks for the reply. At least all the numbers are starting to make sense to me.

I race dirt oval, and I am always looking for the speed control that is able to deliver the most power.

I have been following this thread for awile now, and I am thinkin like you: I may buy one, but I am waiting on some more reviews first.

The ESC looks very nice and it's small like the Tekin R1/RS Pro. So I will eventually get one, but will wait for more results from the people who have bought them. I'm also going to wait for the program card to come out as well and I hope they include it with the ESC.

lutach:

We don't have super MOSFET, LRP TC SPEC is 400A/Phase and GTB is 540A/Phase.

eded1:
Have you try to re-calibrate neutral/full throttle/full brake? What you mean is when full throttle the green LED goes off?

Also, make sure your throttle is set to "REV" during calibration.

I Got Myself A RB50 Months Ago.
And im Very Happy with the performance of the ESC.
Its comparable with those Highend race specs LRP,SP.
So Far I have no complain on these ESC. Install,Setup And Race.
I owned a RB30 Also. For Stock Racing RB30 is enuf if your in a budget.
Price is good too.
